The latest Steam hardware survey results show that Windows 10 gamers on Valve's popular PC game service are officially on top, outnumbering Windows 7 PC gamers just over 10 months after the launch of the new OS.
In April 2016, the Steam survey indicated that Windows 10 claimed 39.51% of its users, when combining both its 32-bit and 64-bit SKUs. Windows 7 was still slightly ahead at 39.54%, again with combining both SKUs. However, the survey results for May 2016 on Steam show Windows 10 has surged ahead, with a combined share of 41.48%, while Windows 7's combined share dipped down to 38.60%.
In terms of individual versions, the 64-bit version of Windows 10 is on top, as it has been for the past few months, at 40.17%, followed by Windows 7 64-bit at 32.06%. Windows 8.1, in its 64-bit SKU, is a distant third at 11.14%.
