Windows Phone 8107 OS update hits Bell tomorrow

Canda's Bell will push the 8107 update tomorrow

If you are a Bell customer in Canada and use a LG Optimus Quantum or HTC HD7, you have reason to rejoice.  Starting tomorrow, Microsoft will start pushing out its 8107 update (7.10.8107.79), which most notably, fixes the "vanishing keyboard" issue on said devices amongst other fixes.  A leaked internal Bell Mobility document shows that the rollout will occur in two waves.  The first will come tomorrow, followed by wave 2 on January 25.

In addition to the keyboard bug, 8107 also addresses the following:

  • Email. Fixes a Google mail syncing issue.
  • Location. Fixes a location access issue. With this fix, the Me feature in the People Hub sends anonymous information about nearby Wi-Fi access points and cell towers to Microsoft only if you agree to allow the Check In function to access and use location information.
  • Security. Revokes digital certificates from DigiCert Sdn Bhd to address an encryption issue.
  • Email threads. Fixes an email issue related to Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. With this fix, when you reply to or forward a message, the original message is now included in your response.
  • Voicemail. Fixes a voicemail notification display issue that occurs on some European and Asian networks under certain conditions.
  • There's no word on how the waves of updates get divvied up, so no telling who will get it when.

Windows Phone 8107 OS update hits Bell tomorrow

Is there any hope at all that Sprint ever pushes this out?  The Exchange issue is killing the phone for me.
Anyone do the manual update off of XDA?  How hard is it?

Not sure we should rejoice, as Bell hasn't actually listed a WP7 for sale in 6 months. When I bought my Wife's phone, the guy had to go in the back and dig for one of the 2 LG phones they had.  I suppose getting an update is better than not getting one.
So, yeah I can hardly contain myself.

Still stuck on 7720 here, not surprising as we have 3 Focus v1.3's. I should probably start shopping for a Lumia.

Couldn't agree with you more.  I'm a little surprised there aren't more WP7 devices with Bell.  I think they're waiting for more "4G" WP7's.  I hope they bring the Nokia smartphones to their library of high-end smartphones.

I think it's interesting that Canada's CDMA carrier has the HD7 and two LG phones when Sprint and Verizon only have the 7 Pro and Trophy...

FYI, bell and telus are no longer cdma. They still have phones in cdma but all the new phones they sell are running on the 1900mhz 3g band. They have no GSM backup so when u r out of 3g coverage, you can even make a call. That's why you see these 2 phones on bell and the lumia 800 is going to be on telus.

That's how they can sell the iFones on their networks too.

Still no tethering on the HD7 (from the release notes), I am a bit disappointed... But I will keep my hope up a little until the update is installed.

@blackprince I got my notification on the 26th and I just got the update installed! It was faster than any of the previous ones. I don't have broadband available where I live (farm) so I had to come into town and use the free WiFi at McDonald's. The pre-mango accuracy is back hallelujah!
