Microsoft has just released build 14203 for those enrolled in the Preview for Developers program. This update to Windows Phone 8.1.1 isn't a major update but does add a few useful new features. We already expected there to be some improvements for the Battery Saver app, but we weren't expected the OS update scheduler.
Here's what's new in build 14203 for Windows Phone:
- Battery Saver improvements
- NTP (Network Time Protocol) working for more folks
- OS update scheduler
Battery Saver gains a Live Tile with real-time battery status and Quick Action integration. To enable the Quick Action feature for Battery Saver, just go to settings -> notifications + actions and select Battery Saver for one of your icons.
It's a little harder to judge this, but we hear a lot of you note improvements to the NTP in Windows Phone. This sets the time and time zone automatically, and we hear it works better for those of you in Russia.
Another neat feature we didn't expect is the ability to schedule OS updates for your Windows Phone. Go to settings -> phone update and you'll now have the option to automatically download OS updates if your data settings allow it. Once you've enabled this, you can select your preferred install time, which is set to 3:00 AM by default.
A useful feature and one we're glad to make its way from Windows 10 to Windows Phone.
That's what's new in today's 14203 build, let us know if you find anything else!
Thanks for the tips everyone!
