Oh what a weekend it has been. With the launch of Windows Phone 8 on AT&T and Verizon and T-Mobile expected in the next week, it has been quite exciting but now it is coming to full steam with the release of Skype for Windows Phone 8.

Yes, the app is now slipping out to the Store and we managed to get our hands on it. Heck, we’re even going to give you a video demo of it after the break to see it in action.

If there is one thing we can say about Windows Phone 8 is that it is reportedly very secure, specifically  during the boot process. But that doesn't mean that the OS cannot be "dumped" and looked at for exploits or--the holy grail--to be back ported to older Windows Phone 7.x handsets.

That process has now officially begun over at XDA Forums where a user named 'neilgoco' has managed to get his hands on an HTC 8X engineering device. That means it is more 'open" and has access to developer tools not found on the commercial release.

Although Windows Phone 8 is now available (for some users at least), the big advertising campaign has yet to begin. The good news is that’s going to start this weekend, specifically during Sunday’s NFL games, which we think should get a lot of eyes.

The ad they will be using is the one that premiered during the big Windows Phone announcement at the end of October. It features numerous people of every stripe and color talking about how their Windows Phone is their own, focusing on the phrase the smartphone “reinvented around you”.

Microsoft has had mixed success with advertising in the past but we think this commercial is quite effective and should raise interest from those looking for something new. We should also point out that this is just the initial phase of advertising, so expect more things in the coming weeks.

Nokia Lumia 920 Review

Windows Phone Central's review of Nokia's highly anticipated flagship Windows Phone 8 device

If there were one device that the tech world is focused on for measuring Windows Phone success, it would be the Nokia Lumia 920 (available now on AT&T; $99). It is considered by many to be the “flagship” phone (a term we find to be ill defined) for the platform and as such it has a lot riding on it.

We’ve had the AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 for well over 10 days now so we figured we would finally share our thoughts. The reason for the delay? Simply put, the device was not available to most of you and we happen to believe in spending more than 48 hours with a phone before deciding on the pros and cons.  Some reviews, in our opinion, have glossed over some issues, others have missed new developments and most have focused on just a few aspects e.g. the size issue.

The too long, didn’t read it version? We like the Lumia 920 a lot and it is easily the best Windows Phone to date. It’s perhaps not for everyone but Nokia have done a great job.

We just got our hands on the new HTC 8X Windows Phone from AT&T and it makes a nice first impression. Launched today with the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, we are hearing supplies are limited for the new HTC Windows Phone.

This was the only 8X my local AT&T Store received and I was told more are due tomorrow and Monday.  You also have the option to order the 8X online over at AT&T's website.

Today's launch of the AT&T Windows Phone 8 devices was sure to draw lines at some stores. Dare I say it was a perfect storm type event with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and HTC 8X on the same day?

Readers are reporting a mixed bag with some stores not having any of the new phones in stock to stores with plenty Lumia's in stock but no 8X's.  WPCentral reader, Jignesh, sent us the above picture from the AT&T Store at Irving, Texas of customers lining up to buy the new Windows Phones.
