Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4 released with Hyper-V container support

While Windows 10 has been officially released for consumers and businesses for a few months now, the server version of the OS, Windows Server 2016, is still in testing. Today, Microsoft released Windows Server 2016 Technical Preview 4, which adds support for a number of new features:

Microsoft summarized what's new in Technical Preview 4 in a blog post:

  • Application platform features, including new capabilities for Nano Server, Windows Server Containers updates and – new in this release – Hyper-V Containers, offer great opportunities for modern app development.
  • Software-defined datacenter capabilities, across storage, networking, and compute, let you reduce cost and increase agility. New security features help address evolving threats and new threat vectors.
  • Enhanced management capabilities, to give you advanced software-defined datacenter support and intuitive monitoring improvements.

ZDNet reports that Microsoft will release at least one more technical preview of Windows Server 2016 before the final public build is launched sometime in the second half of 2016.
