Fans of CD Projekt RED's acclaimed open-world fantasy RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be able to play the first of two planned expansions for the game, Hearts of Stone, on October 13. The expansion for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, will add 10 more hours of gameplay in a new storyline with more monsters, characters and a new Runewords system that will impact gameplay.
Here's a look at the expansion's storyline:
"Step once again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, now hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality. The expansion lets you choose your own path through an experience that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced."
The Hearts of Stone expansion pack on its own will normally cost $9.99, but CD Projekt RED is selling the PC version on its GOG.com site for just $8.49 from now until October 12. In addition, a special version of Hearts of Stone will be offered at retail stores for $19.99.
"The box contains a digital download code for the expansion, two masterfully crafted physical decks of Gwent, the card game set in the world of The Witcher, as well as a detailed manual explaining the rules."
A second expansion pack for The Witcher 3 is scheduled to be released sometime in the spring of 2016. Players can get access to both by buying the game's Expansion Pass for $24.99.
