Xbox One owners who have a paid Xbox Live Gold subscription will get a lot for their money in December. Microsoft will give them a total of five games to download for free during that month. Two of them will be Xbox One native games while the other three will be Xbox 360 games that can be played via the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature.
One of the two free Xbox One games for December's Games for Gold period will be Thief, the recent reimagining of the stealth-action game series from Square Enix. It will be available as a free game from December 16 to January 15. The other free Xbox One game is The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, which will be free for the entire month of December.
The Xbox 360 games that will be free and playable on the Xbox One will be Castlestorm, from December 1-15, Sacred 3, from December 16-31, and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, also from December 16-31. The combined normal prices of all five games is $84.95, which more than pays for a normal 12-month subscription to Xbox Live Gold at $59.99.
