New this week for Xbox One: Gears of War 4, Battlefield 1 trial, WWE 2K17

This week looks to be a busy one for fans of the shooter genre, with a range of titles releasing over the coming days. Microsoft is debuting one of its biggest shooters of the season with Gears of War 4, and Battlefield 1 will be available during its EA Access trial period. Other notable releases include Metal Gear Solid V: The Definitive Experience, WWE 2K17, and Rise of the Tomb Raider's latest DLC.

Our top picks this week:

Gears of War 4

Headlining this week's lineup is the latest return to the Gears of War franchise, which marks the first title in the series designed specifically for the Xbox One. With a new protagonist, Gears of War 4's story takes the perspective of JD Fenix and a squad of his friends, in search of a mysterious new enemy.

Gears of War 4 ships with a full-fledged campaign, a competitive Versus mode and a returning fan favorite: Horde mode. As one of Microsoft's biggest releases this fall, the game will also support the Play Anywhere program between Xbox One and Windows 10 devices. While owners of the Ultimate Edition gained early access last week, Gears of War 4 officially releases on Tuesday, October 11.

The well-established WWE gameplay returns, with new moves, animations and brawling opportunities.
