Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation v2.3 is a great reason to return to the battlefield

Update 2.3 for the Escalation expansion adds a new class of ship, called "Juggernauts." These are colossal warships that play a role in the late game to take on enemies with immense firepower. While the cost to build these beastly machines is high, the return on investment can be game-changing.

Interestingly, these new Juggernaut class ships have the ability to level indefinitely, receiving a five percent boost to health and damage output with each rank. Should you manage to hold out with one for a while, taking down countless units, you'll find yourself with a formidable weapon. There are two Juggernauts in version 2.3: the PHC and Substrate. The former boasts the most powerful weapon ever installed on a ship, while the latter is more of a support option with drones and an army of frigates.

But that's not all. While new ships are always welcome, update 2.3 also introduces a new, fully-voiced campaign with a total of six missions. This Genesis campaign continues the Ashes story, featuring the new Juggernaut class of ship. And because Stardock has opted to deploy these new warships in the missions, the difficulty has also be bumped for more advanced and experienced players.

If you've found the campaign to be a little too easy or unbalanced, we recommend you check it out now post-updating. If you've already got the game but have not played it for some time, get it reinstalled and test drive these new ships. Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation can be purchased on both Steam and GOG for $38.69 and $19.34 (50 percent off), respectively. It's worth noting you'll need to have the base game, as well.
