ASUS launches the affordable VivoBook S510

If you're in the market for a middle-of-the-road laptop that also looks attractive, ASUS' latest might be worth a look. The company has now launched the new VivoBook S510, a 15.6-inch notebook with a surprisingly sleek exterior that starts at $699.

In its starting configuration, the VivoBook S510 packs Intel's 7th-generation Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB 5400RPM hard drive. Bumping the price up to $799 will score an upgrade to an Intel Core i7 processor and a 128GB SSD with 1TB hard drive combo. The keyboard on both models also features backlighting, and there's an included Windows Hello-compatible fingerprint sensor on the trackpad.

Other specs include a 15.6-inch 1080p display, along with a built-in SD card reader, a single USB Type-C port, 3 USB ports, and HDMI. The laptop is also relatively svelte at 0.7 inches thin.

Coming in firmly under $1000, the VivoBook S510 seems to offer plenty of bang for your buck. One big knock is the inclusion of a relatively slow hard drive on the base model, but that's not unexpected given the price.

If you're interested, the base model VivoBook S510 is up for grabs now on ASUS' eShop, while the higher-end model is available at Newegg.
