Careem launches official car booking app for Windows Phone users in the Middle East

Careem, a chauffeur-driven car booking service in the Middle East, has just launched their official app for Windows Phone. The service allows you to order hassle-free rides in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam from your smartphone. You can track rides in real-time, pay with credit cards, and access receipts online. Careem originally launched in Google Play and the App Store. Now, Windows Phone users can join the fun.

You’ll need an account to use Careem. Simply select a pickup location, drop-off location, and then confirm the booking. Request NOW bookings so Careem can match driver availability in real-time or make LATER bookings for a specific time and date. Careem work behind the scenes to ensure that a driver is found for your booking, he/she arrives on time, knows your pickup and drop-off locations, and is compensated for providing the service.

Cars are equipped with GPS so you can track your car on the map on its route to pick you up. Careem also provides the driver’s name and car details so you know whom to expect.

There are fixed prices for certain routes, but most other trips are priced based on distance traveled and wait time (traveling at less than 16 km/h).

  • Distance is priced at AED 3 per km (may vary for certain markets)
  • Wait time (less than 16 km/h) is priced at AED 100 per hour (billed by the minute)
  • Minimum for fixed-time bookings in AED 75; for NOW bookings is AED 40
  • Airport pickup surcharge is AED 40

Users pay with credit card, which is not charged until after the trip is finished. Careem currently do not support cash payments.

Careem is a free download from the Windows Phone Store. Check it out if you live within the supported locations and let us know what you think!
