Crackdown 3 news has been a little thin on the ground lately, but at least we now have a launch window!

During Microsoft's ExtraLife charity stream (during which an impressive $18,000 was raised), the Crackdown 3 team took a few questions about the upcoming open-world shooter (via ICXM).

Crackdown 3 will launch before the holiday season of 2017 for Xbox One and Windows 10. Crackdown 3 will also boast visuals in 4K resolution on Project Scorpio, showcasing the power of the next Xbox.

Crackdown 3

Reagent Games discussed Crackdown 3 during the live stream at around the 2-hour mark. In response to a question about Crackdown 1 and 2 hitting backward compatibility, Microsoft's Jorg Neumann coyly noted that they're "working on stuff," which at least indicates Microsoft is still exploring bringing previous Crackdown titles to the current generation. Perhaps remasters are on the cards as seen with Halo Wars 1? Time will tell.

Crackdown 3 is a 4-player co-operative open-world shooter with a comic book aesthetic and an emphasis on wanton destruction. Crackdown 3's multiplayer mode will use the power of the Microsoft Cloud to boost the Xbox's processing capability well above what is currently on offer, streaming unprecedented destruction physics calculations to your console.

Crackdown 3 will land as a buy-once Xbox Play Anywhere title for Xbox One, Windows 10 Store. and Project Scorpio set to launch before 2017's holiday season.
