Summer Game Fest season went out with a bang as Nintendo's latest Direct stream shocked the world with a new Xenoblade game and an upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

However, it wasn't all about Nintendo Switch, as the Nintendo Direct had plenty of exciting games coming to other platforms like Xbox and PC, and we've rounded them all up for your convenience.

Kingdom Hearts 4

Four years after its debut trailer in 2022, Kingdom Hearts 4 has finally resurfaced with a new trailer that gives players their first look at its combat system, along with cinematic moments from its story.

The plot of the latest mainline entry of the Kingdom Hearts series has Sora, Donald, and Goofy journey to a mysterious city called Quadratum. Along the way, our heroes will explore worlds, encounter familiar faces and new characters, and obtain new powers to help them defeat new, dark monsters.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in the future.

Additionally, Square Enix will be releasing Kingdom Hearts Collection [I ~ III], a compilation containing Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts III+Re Mind on October 8, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.

However, this compilation is available right now on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen

Dragon's Dogma 2, the long-awaited sequel to Capcom's dark fantasy action-RPG, is getting an expansion called Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.

This expansion will feature a new icy region to explore called Norgan, a new powerful type of gear to enhance a player's abilities called Relics, 12 new Dungeon Challenges to test players' skills, and several new hairstyle and tattoo cosmetic options.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will launch on October 9, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Final Fantasy Resonance

Final Fantasy Resonance is the Final Fantasy series' first-ever game with an HD-2D art style, and it's coming to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC via Steam on October 22, 2026.

In this game, you will travel the world as young knight Rain, who is tasked with saving the world's life-giving crystals from being destroyed by the evil Veritas of the Dark.

Along the way, you will meet up with powerful friends who will join your party, fight towering monsters in turn-based combat, and summon Visions of classic Final Fantasy heroes like Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7 to aid you in battle.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is the latest entry in the Dragon Quest Monsters spin-off series. It was first revealed alongside Dragon Quest 12, but now we have our first look at its gameplay with this new trailer.

In this game, you play as Bianca and Nera as they embark on a grand adventure, befriending friendly monsters, raising them, fusing them to create new ones, and battling evil monsters in turn-based battles.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is set to launch on December 3, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC via Steam.

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton

Not content with just making a Warhammer Survivor spin-off, the creators of Vampire Survivors have decided to make an anime spin-off called Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton.

In this game, you play as various characters from the popular anime and manga series Jujutsu Kaisen and fight through hordes of monsters in Vampire Survivors-style gameplay.

However, there's a competitive PvP element to this game, as you will be tasked with killing more enemies faster than your rivals in 8-player battle royales. Once only two players remain, you will have to fight each other in a 1v1 duel to determine the winner.

Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton is set to release in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Atelier Karia: The Kingdom of Night and the Signpost of Reminence

Atelier Karia: The Kingdom of Night and the Signpost of Reminence is the latest entry in the Atelier series.

In this game, you play as Karia, a young woman out on a journey to reclaim her lost memories and discover the secrets of alchemy. You will explore a bright, colorful, fantastical world, gather ingredients to perform alchemy, and fight enemies in real-time battles that you can pause to perform strategic maneuvers.

Atelier Karia: The Kingdom of Night and the Signpost of Reminence is set to launch in early 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

Tales of Eternia Remastered

Tales of Eternia Remastered is an HD remaster of one of the earliest entries in the Tales Of series. In this game, you will travel between two worlds to uncover the past behind a mysterious girl Meredy, and battle monsters in fast-paced real-time battles that have been refined with quality-of-life improvements.

Tales of Eternia Remastered is set to release on October 16, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 & 5, Nintendo Switch 1 & 2, and PC via Steam.

Square Enix announces that it is porting the Kingdom Hearts series to Steam on June 13, 2024.

Kingdom Hearts is a long-running series of action RPGs where players go on adventures through the worlds of classic Disney movies and fight alongside Disney and Final Fantasy characters.

On May 21, Square Enix made a shocking announcement regarding its long-running Kingdom Hearts franchise. On June 13, 2024, Square Enix will be porting every major entry in the series to Steam, bringing the beloved franchise to a whole audience.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise is the third most popular franchise in Square Enix's catalog, just Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. These action RPGs are beloved for their simple yet satisfying combat systems, endearing characters, and allowing Disney fans to explore the worlds of their favorite Disney movies while fighting alongside their favorite Disney and Final Fantasy heroes.

With this announcement, Square Enix is already making good on its promise to bring more of its titles to PC platforms and beyond. Granted, the aforementioned Kingdom Hearts titles are already available on PC through the Epic Games Store, but now that these games are coming to Steam, this will bring a whole audience to the franchise, especially for those looking to play it on the go via Steam Deck.

Not to mention, these ports will be a great way for Steam players to catch up on the series as we wait for the eventual release of Kingdom Hearts IV.

During the 20th anniversary event for Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix revealed Kingdom Hearts 4.
There's no release date or release window for Kingdom Hearts 4 right now.
Square Enix also did not announce platforms for the game.

Square Enix isn't closing out Sora, Goofy, Donald, and the rest of the gang just yet.

During the Kingdom Hearts 20th anniversary event, Square Enix announced Kingdom Hearts 4. The announcement trailer shows protagonist Sora waking up in a mysterious city, with Donald and Goofy also making appearances. You can take a look at the trailer below (skip to around the 4:00 minute mark for the Kingdom Hearts 4 announcement):

No release date or release window has been announced for Kingdom Hearts 4, but given the series' history, hopefully fans will have less of a wait than from Kingdom Hearts 2 to Kingdom Hearts 3, with the former game launching in 2005 and the latter game having been revealed in February 2013, then launching six years later, for a 14-year gap in total.

No platforms were announced during the event, so it's unclear where you'll be able to play this next adventure. Kingdom Hearts 3 first launched on Xbox One and PS4 in January 2019, with a PC port coming later in March 2021. In 2022, the series would jump to Nintendo Switch through Cloud gaming. Given the nature of game development right now, we wouldn't be surprised to see this end up as a current-generation exclusive, coming only to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5 consoles.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise has sold over 35 million copies across its long history, with Kingdom Hearts 3 selling five million copies in the first couple of weeks after launch.

What is Kingdom Hearts?

Originally released in 2002, Kingdom Hearts shouldn't have worked. Combining the mature themes and designs of Square's Final Fantasy RPGs with the cutesy, family friendly fun of Disney, Kingdom Hearts still sounds bizarre, but somehow, it landed. Nearly two decades and a dozen games later, Kingdom Hearts is a massively successful franchise with multiple games in the pipeline. However, up until now, the series has primarily lived on the various incarnations of the PlayStation, with the occasional spin-off game on Nintendo or mobile.

What we know about Kingdom Hearts for PC

Divided up into four titles, the Kingdom Hearts for PC collection will be available exclusively on the Epic Games Store.

The first title, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMix is an HD remastered collection that includes:

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix - the game that started it all, the Final Mix of Kingdom Hearts I is a fully remastered HD version of the original game from 2002. Take on the role of Sora, a seemingly normal boy with an incredible destiny and the heart to see it realized, along with the help of Donald and Goofy, as well as a cast of Disney and Square Enix characters.
Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories - originally released on the Nintendo's Game Boy Advance, Chain of Memories bridges the gap between Kingdom Hearts I and Kingdom Hearts II. Explore the Castle Oblivion and face off against Organization XIII as Sora, with the help of his friends.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days - originally released for the Nintendo DS, 358/2 Days runs parallel to the events of Chain of Memories. You play as Roxas as he and Axel befriend a new member of Organization XIII, Xion, with beautifully remastered HD cinematic scenes.
Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix - the sequel to Kingdom Hearts I and second core game in the series, Kingdom Hearts II takes place one year following Chain of Memories and pits Sora and company against Organization XIII and their Nobodies. Kingdom Hearts Re:coded - an episodic action RPG puzzle game originally released on mobile devices, Kingdom Hearts Coded was given the remastered treatment as well with HD remastered cinematic scenes and rereleased as Re:coded on the Nintendo DS. Re:coded features eight episodes directly following Kingdom Hearts II which follow the stories of Jiminy Cricket, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy in Disney Castle, along with a virtual recreation of Sora and some of the worlds he visited in previous games.

The second title, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is a collection that occurs between Kingdom Hearts II and III, and includes:

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD - originally released on the Nintendo DS, this side game features Sora and Riku and their Mark of Mastery exam as they prepare to face Master Xehanort, fully remastered with beautiful HD graphics.
Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover - set in Kingdom Hearts χ, χ Back Cover is an hour-long movie from the Foretellers' perspectives, explaining the events leading up to the first Kingdom Hearts game.
Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep - A Fragmentary Passage - set directly after the secret ending of Birth by Sleep, this game is told from Aqua's perspective leading up to the events of Kingdom Hearts III.

The third title, Kingdom Hearts III + Re Mind (DLC). This title features everything in the original release of Kingdom Hearts III, as well as the Re Mind DLC adventure and a brand new Epic Games exclusive Keyblade, Element Encoder. This game concludes the Dark Seeker Saga which began in Kingdom Hearts I and features many familiar worlds from previous games, along with new adventures in the worlds of Frozen, Tangled, Toy Story, and Monsters Inc.

Lastly, the fourth title, Melody of Memory is an action rhythm game set just after the Kingdom Hearts III DLC. This game invites players into Kairi's memories of the events of previous games, while also laying the groundwork for the next entries in the series. Featuring over 140 different tracks from both the Kingdom Hearts series and Disney, Melody of Memory lets you play with four different teams of characters from the franchise, along with a variety of Disney characters who lend a helping hand along the way.

What we want from Kingdom Hearts for PC

While all of these games have been released on previous consoles and mobile devices before, this is the first time they will all be available for PC. Epic Games has already announced the inclusion of an exclusive new Keyblade for Kingdom Hearts III, but adding on a few more extras like this would make sense. Otherwise, we'd like a smooth gameplay experience, and perhaps even a simultaneous release for future Kingdom Hearts games, so PC players don't have to wait years to enjoy them.

Kingdom Hearts is finally coming to PC, but will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. This includes the entire series, including Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and Kingdom Hearts 3 + ReMind. The series is available for pre-order starting right now from the Epic Games Store, and will release in full on March 30, 2021.

What you need to know

Kingdom Hearts is an incredible third-person action series from Square Enix.
It fuses many Disney and Final Fantasy franchises into one unique experience.
The two recent releases appear to be running at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on Xbox One X.
You can purchase both Kingdom Hearts games through the Microsoft Store.

A few weeks ago, "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix" and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" were spotted on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One. The games subsequently launched on the console last week, but many gamers were curious as to how they perform on Microsoft's machine, particularily the Xbox One X.

We were able to test them out recently and can confirm that they appear to be 4K resolution or very close. What's even better is that they run at 60 frames per second (FPS) on Xbox One X. Many gamers thought that the titles, since they're third-person action games, would be 30 FPS, but that isn't the case.

Since I don't have a standard Xbox One anymore, I can't confirm how they run on base hardware, but on Xbox One X, they're an absolutely glorious experience. There are so many titles packed into the two collections that I can't help but recommend them. If you own an Xbox One X, both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue are must-buys in my opinion.

While the Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind content is already available on PlayStation 4, it finally landed on Xbox One after many weeks. You can purchase it for $30 if you aren't an Xbox Game Pass subscriber, but if you are, the price goes down to around $26.

According to Square Enix, ReMind tells another tale that unfolded during the climax of Kingdom Hearts III. Determined to rescue Kairi, Sora traveled to the Keyblade Graveyard a short time before the final battle. Lacking a corporeal form, he traceed the hearts of the seven Guardians of Light. Through experiencing their personal battles firsthand, Sora uncovered truths he never knew before.

As such, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue just launched on Xbox One on February 18, 2020. Square Enix likely wants to make as much money as possible and is selling them at normal retail prices.

Kingdom Hearts 3 has been on Xbox One for over a year, so that's probably why it was placed into Xbox Game Pass. This also gives players with Xbox Game Pass an incentive to try it out and then purchase the remaining games.

Will the rest of the series ever come to Xbox Game Pass?

It is unknown whether Square Enix ever plans to release the rest of the series into Xbox Game Pass, but it's not impossible. Either way, it likely won't be for some time since the games just launched.

Will Kingdom Hearts 3 be in Xbox Game Pass forever?

Probably not. Xbox Game Pass regularly rotates games in and out of its catalog. While some stay longer than others, it'd be wise to play Kingdom Hearts 3 as soon as possible if you're interested in it. There's no telling when it will be pulled, but it'll likely be a few months at the very least.

A few days ago, "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix" and "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" were spotted on the Xbox Store. The games had a release date of February 18, but it was unclear if this was a placeholder or the actual release date. Today, we got our answer.

The titles are already available on the console in New Zealand, and should hit the United States at midnight. Kingdom Hearts is an incredible third-person action series from Square Enix.
It fuses Disney and Final Fantasy games into one unique experience.
The previous Kingdom Hearts games are available in New Zealand.

Updated February 17, 2020: Both of the games are available in the United Kingdom and are expected to release at midnight in the United States. It's official everyone, Kingdom Hearts has properly landed on the console!

If you're in New Zealand, or are feeling adventurous, you can purchase both games from the Xbox Store in the country. Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix costs NZ$89.90 and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is NZ$104.90. This means that the games are probably going to be $50 and $60 in the United States when they launch at midnight.

We haven't received any confirmation that the games will be available today. For all we know, this may be a mistake on Square Enix's part. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more. However, be sure to pick both of them up because they're incredible titles that all Xbox One owners should have in my opinion. They're regarded as cult classics nowadays.

At X019, Microsoft and Square Enix announced that the critically-acclaimed Kingdom Hearts games were coming to Xbox One in 2020. While we haven't heard much since then, Twitter user "WalkingCat" just posted a link to the Microsoft Store page for "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix."

We can learn quite a few things from the listing. Firstly, the title is Xbox One X Enhaned and appears to be running at 4K resolution on the system. It should look phenomenal on a 4K display. Secondly, the file size is around 57 GB so it'll be quite a hefty download. Lastly, the release date right now appears to be February 18, so in a few weeks, but that might just be a placeholder. Square Enix's legendary mash-up of Disney and Final Fantasy characters is finally headed to Xbox One in its complete form. Announced at X019, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, along with Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, will launch on Xbox One in 2020.

However, once they launch, you'll get access to Kingdom Hearts I and II, along with the various side games, all of the cinematics, and more. Amazon Prime Day 2019 is almost here, but that hasn't stopped the retailer — and its competitors — from discounting certain games early. Today, Amazon and Best Buy discounted Anthem: Legion of Dawn Edition to just $15. This is quite a steal because the standard edition is also going for $15 right now.

That's not all though, Kingdom Hearts III is also $20 at Best Buy at the moment. Oddly enough, it hasn't been reduced at Amazon. That's one game the retailer can't beat the price on! If you're in the market for two great third-person action games, be sure to take a look at these titles.

Anthem: Legion of Dawn Edition

Anthem is a third-person shared-world shooter along the lines of Destiny. It features a massive jungle setting which you can explore with up to three friends. Anthem may not be worth $60, or more, depending on which edition some gamers picked up at launch, but it's definitely a steal for $15. Instead of simply discounting the normal version of the game, Amazon and Best Buy have decided to reduce the "Legion of Dawn Edition" to $15, which includes some coveted cosmetic items. The suit makes you look like a hybrid of Iron Man and Predator so it's definitely worth it in my opinion.

Anthem is a shared world shooter from BioWare. BioWare is the studio behind famous franchises like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. While the game may not be as great as what was initially teased, it's still a lot of fun with friends.

Kingdom Hearts III

Kingdom Hearts III is another third-person action game that fans have waited for years. It's a fusion of Disney and Final Fantasy which oddly works. Your step into the shoes of Sora, a young boy who has no memory of his past. It's up to you discover what happened to you and stop an evil force from consuming both universes. Given the fact that Japanese role-playing games aren't as popular on Xbox One, the new price of $20 should appeal to many gamers. You can head over to Best Buy and pick it up right now.
