LG quietly makes some truly thin, light, and premium laptops that, unfortunately, often go unnoticed by mainstream buyers. The company recently launched an updated gram Book 15 for 2026, and its $699 starting price caught my eye.

That's dangerously close to the MacBook Neo's baseline $599, and at the time of writing, the LG gram Book 15 is actually discounted by $100 to line it up nicely with Apple's massively popular notebook. I doubt that was a coincidence.

So, how does the LG gram Book 15 compare to the MacBook Neo? Let's find out.

What does the LG gram Book 15 get right?

LG's gram Book 15 has the right $699 ($599 on sale) starting price to turn some heads, but is it actually worth that much?

For some, definitely. LG created this laptop as a lightweight daily driver for those who mainly focus on productivity, email, browsing, and streaming. There's really no sense spending thousands on a laptop if that's all you plan to use it for, which is exactly where the gram Book fits in.

The use of an Intel Core Ultra 5 115U is a tad confusing, especially considering the last generation of gram Book used a newer Core Ultra Series 2 chip, but with eight cores and a Turbo frequency up to 4.2GHz, it certainly has the juice to multitask.

The baseline model comes with 8GB of RAM, the same as the Neo, but it has twice as much storage (512GB) compared to the introductory MacBook model. LG also offers 16GB and 32GB memory configs, something that Apple refuses to do with the Neo.

A gram Book 15 with 32GB of DDR5 currently costs $799 after a $300 discount, which is quite a decent offer if you know you can't live without 8GB.

Better yet, the gram Book has two M.2 SSD slots inside, and they're accessible after purchase for upgrades. Everything inside the Neo is locked down.

Port selection also falls in favor of the gram Book. It has one USB-A 3.2 (Gen 1), one USB-A 2.0, two USB-C 3.2 (Gen 2), HDMI, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The MacBook Neo offers just one USB-C 3.2 (Gen 2), one USB-C 2.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Wi-Fi 6E comes with the Neo, while the gram Book falls back to Wi-Fi 6. Is that a difference noticeable by the average user? Absolutely not.

The LG gram Book 15 has a 51Wh battery capacity that easily bests the 36.5Wh option in the Neo. That's a significant jump, and despite Intel's chip not being as efficient as the Apple A18 Pro, battery life should ultimately compare decently.

The audio setup in both laptops involves dual speakers with Dolby Atmos tuning. In general, there's not a lot of difference, although speakers installed in an aluminum chassis often sound better than those encased in plastic.

TL;DR: The LG gram Book 15 is a capable laptop with superior RAM and storage options, more ports, and an attractive price that compares to the MacBook Neo.

What does the MacBook Neo get right?

Apple's MacBook Neo is built from a solid chunk of aluminum, whereas the gram Book uses a plastic chassis with a metallic finish. If you prefer a more rigid feel, Apple is the way to go.

The MacBook Neo is also considerably lighter and smaller than the gram Book, although you have to keep in mind that the former is a 13-inch device while the latter is 15 inches.

Speaking of the displays, the Neo easily wins with a 2408x1506 resolution, taller 16:10 aspect ratio, 500 nits brightness, and Dolby Vision. The only saving grace in the gram Book is touch functionality. It's otherwise not as high-res or bright.

Above the Neo's display is a 1080p webcam, whereas the gram Book has just an HD (720p) camera to work with. It does, however, add a privacy shutter.

Now on to performance. Apple's A18 Pro System-on-Chip (SoC) is an impressive piece of hardware, and despite it originally being used for mobile devices, it holds up very well compared to the Intel Core Ultra 5 115U in the gram Book.

The A18 Pro can deliver superior single- and multi-core performance, as well as superior integrated GPU performance. If you want the most power and efficiency, you'll want to stick with the Neo.

TL;DR: The MacBook Neo offers better performance and efficiency, a superior display, a higher-res webcam, and a sleek aluminum chassis.

LG gram Book 15 vs. MacBook Neo: Windows and macOS

The Windows 11 vs. macOS debate is always a lively one. I usually end up at the conclusion that I'm not likely to change your mind if you already live in one ecosystem or the other.

But if you're new to both operating systems, I can offer a condensed comparison. Windows 11 is a more flexible OS that can run many different tools and apps. It's much better for gaming, although I wouldn't recommend buying the gram Book as primarily a gaming system.

If you prefer a super simple and sleek OS, you'll probably enjoy macOS more. It might not be as flexible or offer as many options, but it is consistent and makes sense for creators. It's also a great choice if you already have an iPhone or iPad, since Apple's ecosystem is so comprehensive.

LG gram Book 15 vs. MacBook Neo: Which should you buy?

The LG gram Book 15 for 2026 has an attractive price, and if you're sold on Windows 11, it could be a great choice for lighter productivity work, streaming, web browsing, email, etc. The fact that storage is upgradeable after purchase and RAM can be configured up to 32GB means there's a good chance of it remaining relevant for years to come.

On the other hand, if you can stomach macOS, Apple's MacBook Neo delivers a whole lot of laptop for a low price. It's built to a higher standard, its display is superior, and its SoC is more powerful and efficient. The 8GB RAM cap is disappointing, as is the port selection, but for the average user (like a student), it's a great option starting at $599.

LG TV owners may see a new app on their home screen the next time they sit down to watch something. According to several users, the Microsoft Copilot app is being installed onto LG TVs automatically. Worse yet, the app seemingly cannot be removed.

"My LG TV’s new software update installed Microsoft Copilot, which cannot be deleted," said user defjam16 in a Reddit post.

The same post also highlights a "Live Plus" feature that appears on LG TVs that can detect what's on your screen to better promote ads and content. The setting's description states:

"By turning Live Plus on, you understand that the content displayed on your TV can be recognized, and the viewing information may be used to provide you with an enhanced viewing experience and personlised services including content recommendations and advertisements."

According to defjam16, Live Plus was also enabled by default.

I do not have an LG TV, so I have not been able to test if Copilot is being installed without consent. Even if the app's installation is approved, possibly through a lengthy terms of service agreement, the fact that Copilot cannot be deleted is concerning.

Microsoft currently struggles to convince people to use its AI products. The company's AI CEO shared tone-deaf comments about people's lack of interest in AI last month. Microsoft has also faced backlash over its plans to make Windows in an agentic OS.

Despite Microsoft having invested billions into AI-related technologies, the company's advantage has seemingly evaporated. TIME's "Person of the Year" highlighted a group referred to as "The Architects of AI." Notably, Microsoft is absent from the cover.

Microsoft has received criticism for integrating Copilot into everything from Notepad to Outlook. Now, the tech giant will hear complaints about forcing Copilot onto TVs.

The state of smart TVs is interesting in 2025. On one hand, the LG C5 is both the best 42-inch TV and best gaming TV, according to our colleagues at What Hi-Fi. That TV boasts best-in-class features in several categories, including four HDMI 2.1 (four ports), 4K at up to 144Hz, VRR, and ALLM.

Its operating system, webOS 25, also works with the most popular apps and services. That OS also brings the update that includes Copilot.

LG sets have appeared on best TV lists for years, and despite the latest Copilot situation, I would recommend their hardware to gamers and cinephiles alike.

That being said, many are frustrated with smart TVs becoming bloated with ads and unwanted apps. I seriously doubt the efficacy of Copilot on a TV. I assume most would prefer to install it voluntarily (or not at all).

While only select TVs have Copilot (Microsoft announced partnerships with Samsung and LG about the assistant earlier this year), many smart TVs have unwanted apps or ads.

Finding a quality "dumb" TV in 2025 is difficult. Manufacturers can reduce the cost of TVs by preinstalling apps and showing ads. Even if you found a TV without smart features these days, it would likely be more expensive than a smart TV with otherwise identical specs.

Some smart TVs have modes that hide apps, but those devices still have smart features built in.

This year's Memorial Day sales events seem to be keen on giving away free gaming monitors.

Amazon Gaming Week kicked off on Monday, April 28, and I've been keeping a close watch on gaming laptop sales.

While I've dug up quite a few great Gaming Week RTX laptop sales, the best deal spotted so far isn't actually available at Amazon.

Walmart is home to the MSI Thin 15.6 for just $699, down from the regular $1,000. This is the most affordable RTX 4060 gaming laptop I've seen this week, but it's only available for a limited time.

Why is this the best gaming laptop deal of Gaming Week?

Since Monday, when Gaming Week kicked off, I've been keeping a close watch on the best gaming laptop deals.

From the very start, it's been Walmart — not Amazon — that has what I consider to be the best price on a gaming laptop that's actually worth buying.

The MSI Thin 15 that I'm highlighting here has an NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, an Intel Core i5-13420H CPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.

Memory and storage can both be upgraded after purchase, but as-is, this is a laptop that will handle any games out there at 1080p.

LG announced today three new ultrawide OLED gaming monitors that can double as smart TVs.

The UltraGear GX9s monitors are LG's first foray into the smart monitor/smart TV combination, and ignoring the high prices, they're looking quite attractive.

LG says the monitors are "designed to deliver exceptional gaming and streaming experiences" while combining "premium gaming features with LG’s webOS platform."

Not a bad idea: If you're buying an expensive gaming monitor, why not use it for everything?

The 34-inch UltraGear 34GX90SA kicks things off at $1,399.99; the 39-inch UltraGear 39GX90SA pushes the price up to $1,599.99; and the 45-inch UltraGear 45GX90SA tops things off at $1,699.99.

All three of LG's new ultrawide OLED monitors are now available to purchase straight from LG.com, and I also found some listings at Best Buy.

LG's new flagship OLED gaming display has some bonkers specs

The 45-inch UltraGear 45GX90SA might cost nearly $2,000, but the specs are, to put it lightly, impressive.

I can easily see this becoming the new go-to screen for any rich gamers who hate to leave their station.

LG says it's UL-verified as a Flicker-free Display, Discomfort Glare Free, and Low Blue Light Platinum, which should reduce eye strain and cut out reflections whether you're gaming or watching TV.

The curved OLED panel is what you want for the best color and contrast, no matter if you're gaming or watching a movie. LG says they top out at 1,300 nits of brightness.

LG gives some extra peace of mind with a two-year warranty that covers the panel. That seems to suggest any potential burn-in won't be an issue.

Sized at 44.5 inches, it has a crisp 3440x1440 resolution, sizzling 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time (GtG), and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.

It's compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync, it supports Picture-by-Picture (PbP) and Picture-in-Picture (PiP), and it comes with built-in speakers.

Port selection is extra important in a device that you're using for two duties, and LG meets the demand.

One of the first things I look for now that I've upgraded to a killer dual-monitor arm mount is VESA compatibility, and the new monitors indeed have 100x100 support.

If you want to keep the boxy default stand in place, it offers tilt, height, and swivel ergo adjustments.

LG's smaller UltraGear GX9s monitors follow the same general specs, albeit with a smaller panel (and lower cost).

Why buy a gaming monitor that doubles as a smart TV?

The major feature that sets the new GX9s OLED monitors apart is the inclusion of webOS24, LG's smart TV platform.

This allows the monitors to act just like a TV, with access to all popular streaming services and hundreds of free TV channels.

With cloud gaming picking up in popularity, the ability to add services like NVIDIA GeForce NOW directly to webOS is also a boon.

While I still like to separate my TV and movie viewing from my gaming PC with my current setup, I can see how this type of hardware would be extremely convenient for those who enjoy all media right from their gaming station.

An included Switch app is designed to make screen setup as easy as possible. It allows you to split the screen into six sections, giving you plenty of space for TV, games, and work.

Did I mention LG's new monitors have AI gaming and streaming tools?

It wouldn't be a 2025 product release without at least some mention of AI.

Indeed, part of the webOS package includes AI tools designed to enhance your gaming experience.

Dynamic Tone Mapping and AI Picture are capable of sharpening the image, while the AI Personalized Picture Wizard configures settings according to your preferences. AI Sound tunes audio depending on the content.

How exactly that all works and how well remains to be seen, but it's becoming clear that new hardware with a high price tag is almost always going to come with some sort of AI baked in.

Everything may be an Xbox, but soon, even more things will be Xbox.

That's thanks to a new year team-up between Xbox and LG, bringing support for Xbox Cloud Gaming to LG Smart TVs later this year. As shared on Xbox Wire, these LG TVs will soon allow players to browse and play Xbox games through the Cloud via the upcoming Gaming Portal app.

"Today, we’re excited to announce our collaboration with LG Electronics to bring the Xbox app to their new LG Smart TVs later this year. This means Game Pass Ultimate members will be able to play their games directly from the Xbox app on supported LG Smart TVs via Xbox Cloud Gaming. This gives players even more choice in how they enjoy their favorite games," says Lori Wright, corporate vice president of gaming partnerships and business development at Xbox.

This team-up expands the range of devices players can use Xbox Cloud Gaming with, tying into Microsoft's recent "This is an Xbox" marketing blitz. The feature was already available on Samsung Smart TVs, with Microsoft expanding support to select Amazon Fire Stick models back in 2024.

There's no exact date for when LG Smart TVs will get Xbox Cloud Gaming, but the press release notes that the feature is "coming soon."

Stream games from a subscription, or some of the titles you already own

Xbox Cloud Gaming is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, allowing players to access day-one first-party Xbox titles like Bethesda Game Studios' Starfield and Treyarch and Raven's Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Looking ahead, there's currently a packed lineup of new first-party games coming throughout 2025, including Obsidian Entertainment's Avowed and id Software's DOOM: The Dark Ages. Third-party titles are also frequently added to the library, with some upcoming highlights including the console version of 11 bit studios' Frostpunk 2.

Late in 2024, Microsoft finally began rolling out support for players to stream the games they are already own, beginning with 50 titles including spell-slinging RPG Hogwarts Legacy and the chaotic co-op shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. More games are expected to be supported as time goes on.

Currently, streaming owned games also requires Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, and the feature is available through the web at Xbox.com/play, as well as via Meta Quest 3 headsets and Samsung Smart TVs. Support is set to expand to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles sometime in 2025, as well as to LG TV Smart TVs.

While Microsoft planned to allow players to directly buy and play games through a unified Xbox app in the U.S, court relief for Google is blocking this planned rollout for the time being. Outside of Cloud gaming, Microsoft is also currently working on a dedicated mobile store with its first-party developers like King, the makers of Candy Crush, though the store has been indefinitely delayed past its original expected July 2024 launch window.

Spotted by The Verge, LG and Samsung issued twin press releases detailing how the big tech firms hope to capitalize on the AI craze, and how Microsoft Copilot is on board.

LG's press release details a smorgasbord of AI buzzwords, explaining how LLMs (large language models) will help users revolutionize their TV viewing experience by allowing them to generate custom TV backgrounds using command prompts, and provide show recommendations by tracking your viewing habits. It's like Windows Recall, but instead of tracking your credit card information, it'll expose your secret binge sessions on guilty pleasures like Naked and Afraid and The Kardashians.

Where does Copilot come in? Well ... from the horse's mouth, as it were: "Access to Microsoft Copilot further streamlines the process, allowing users to efficiently find and organize complex information using contextual cues. For an even smoother and more engaging experience, the AI Chatbot proactively identifies potential user challenges and offers timely, effective solutions."

Basically, it sounds as though Copilot will arrive on LG TVs as a simple web app, which I'm not sure anyone really asked for. The same is essentially true on Samsung's end, who says: "In collaboration with Microsoft, Samsung announced the new Smart TVs and Smart Monitors featuring Microsoft Copilot. This partnership will enable users to explore a wide range of Copilot services, including personalized content recommendations."

Samsung and LG both are exploring how AI can deliver video enhancements for things like upscaling HD video to 4K while boosting frame smoothing, and things like that. Indeed, Samsung isn't closing the door on its close partner Google to that end, whose Gemini platform is catching up very rapidly to OpenAI-powered services: "Samsung also plans to work closely with leading AI partners such as Google and others to expand what Vision AI can do."

Arguably starting on the back foot when it came to the AI craze, Google has rapidly caught up and emerged as a frontrunner for video generation technology in particular. Google has, however, stumbled repeatedly by trying to integrate AI services into YouTube and Google Search, both of which have been responsible for feeding false information into proceedings.

Consumers are still ambivalent towards AI apps and services

For all the money speculators and investors are throwing at AI right now, I would argue there has yet to emerge a truly "killer app" or service for consumers. Copilot, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini generally just add extra steps to search engines, albeit with the banal capability to mimic human speech and steal revenue from websites they crib information from.

Business and creativity tools are a different story, however. Adobe has found various ways AI can enhance Photoshop and Premier offering genuine tools that save big on time, and Github and Visual Studio Copilot have become cornerstones of enhancing programming efficiency.

On the flip side, Microsoft's Copilot integration with Windows has barely made a blip on Google's search dominance, despite being preinstalled on millions of PCs. Microsoft's heavily advertised "Copilot+ PC" range has also been widely regarded as a flop so far, as prospective buyers shrug at Microsoft's propensity for building things consumer products nobody actually wants.

Still, there's absolutely no sign of the hype train ending any time soon. Companies like xAI, Google, Microsoft, OpenAI, Meta, and many more are racing to figure out how to be the first to truly mainstream the tech with the general audience, while figuring out to actually make a profit on the way. Who will be first?

The world of high-speed PC gaming monitors just got a bit bigger with LG's UltraGear GX7 launch announcement. The GX7 is now available for preorder at LG's official website for $999.99. The preorder period wraps up on December 25, 2024, and LG says the monitor is expected to start shipping on the week of December 30.

There are but a few OLED monitors that hit a sizzling 480Hz refresh rate, and the GX7 joins the likes of the Sony InZone M10S and the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP that launched earlier this year.

LG's GX7 has a 26.5-inch WOLED panel with a 2560x1440 (QHD) resolution. The extra "W" in the OLED designation isn't just for show. The company says the WOLED panel can "produce RGB colors and impressive screen brightness" thanks to a white OLED light source, and it picks up VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and the "highest VESA ClearMR tier" which currently sits are ClearMR 13000.

With AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility, and the latest HDMI and DisplayPort standards, it should prove to be a popular choice for enthusiast gamers who want to show off their performance hardware. And, of course, the 480Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms response time are a competitive gamer's dream come true.

LG's GX7 isn't the only 480Hz OLED monitor on the market

Although LG initially announced the panel tech in the GX7 in January at CES 2024, it's taken nearly a year for it to wind up in an LG monitor. In the meantime, Sony and ASUS have both launched similar monitors using LG's tech.

Here's a look at the UltraGear GX7's specs in comparison to Sony's InZone M10S and the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDP.

It's no surprise that the general list of specs doesn't change much between these monitors, as all three are based on LG's WOLED tech.

However, the ASUS monitor seems to have higher brightness when HDR isn't enabled, but it uses an older DisplayPort 1.4 standard. The main differences between 1.4 and 2.1 standards are greatly improved bandwidth and some extra encoding efficiency, with the latter effectively offering better support for high-end graphics cards.

From a design standpoint, LG's UltraGear GX7 seems to be a nice middle ground between Sony's stripped-back stand and the ASUS ROG's more aggressive forked stand. All monitors can be VESA-mounted.

Sony's monitor is the most expensive at $1,099.99. LG and ASUS both target the $999.99 price bracket, and though they're a bit more affordable they're both still firmly in the premium price range.

Do you really need a 480Hz monitor?

Dropping $1,000+ on an OLED monitor with 480Hz refresh rate isn't a reality for most gamers. High-end monitors like the LG GX7 are reserved for enthusiasts and competitive gamers, as a higher refresh rate can certainly give you an advantage. The fact that the monitor has an OLED panel only makes it better thanks to impressive color reproduction and awesome contrast.

Monitors like the GX7 are certainly tempting, but I'd recommend most gamers check out something like the ASUS PG27AQDM OLED for around $700. It has a 1440p OLED panel with 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time, and 99% DCI-P3 color. You still get the awesome color from OLED, and the 240Hz refresh rate should be more than enough for most gamers.

The Alienware AW2725DF is also usually available for the same $700 price. It bumps the refresh rate up to 360Hz with a 1440p resolution. These are both considered to be some of the best gaming monitors on the market today, but you can save even more money on something like the Xioami G Pro monitor. It hits a 180Hz refresh rate for its mini-LED panel, and it usually costs about $370.

If you're into PC gaming, then you know that a good gaming monitor can be very expensive. Thankfully, there are some really excellent options at lower prices and when we are lucky, we can even find those on sale sometimes. That's the case with the LG 27" UltraGear Gaming Monitor. It usually sells for $159.99, but right now thanks to an anti-Prime Day sale, it is only $129.00 at Walmart.

A great gaming monitor at a low price

There are plenty of gaming monitors on the market right now, as evidenced by our list of the best gaming monitors. However, many of these beautiful displays tend to be extremely costly. That's why big deal days like Amazon Prime Day are a great time to snag a discounted monitor. 

The LG 27" UltraGear (27GS40W) is a fantastic panel that won't break the bank. It has a resolution of 1080 to display crisp visuals. The 27-inch size with its 16:9 aspect ratio isn't huge, but you won't feel like it limits your view either. 

Arguably the most imporant features of this UltraGear gaming monitor are the elements that work together to provide smooth motion clarity. First off, the monitor supports a refresh rate of up to 180Hz, which is double the minimum refresh rate that you want for gaming. In case you're unaware, refresh rate refers to how many times a second that the monitor sends a new image to the screen. The higher this number, the more accurately your panel can display the latest signals from your games. Meanwhile, the UltraGear's response time, while not extraordinary, is very respectable at 5ms. A response time refers to how quickly the pixels change colors on your screen, which also affects how quickly your panel displays the latest signals from your system. 

Then of course, this monitor also supports AMD FreeSync, a VRR technology (variable refresh rate). This literally synchronizes your AMD GPU's frame rate to your display's refresh rate in order to get rid of any stuttering or screen tearing issues. Just remember that this feature won't be helpful to you if you have an NVIDIA GPU in your laptop or computer — you'd need a gaming monitor that supports G-Sync for that. 

Connection-wise, this monitor offers an HDMI port and a DisplayPort connection. It would be nice if there were more display ports, but just having the two of these helps keep costs down. As with most gaming monitors, this one does not have built-in speakers, but you can connect some to the headphone jack. Something I really appreciate is that the stand is built in such a way that you can tilt the monitor up or down to help provide the best viewing angle for your needs.

PC gaming monitors keep getting better, and if you have the budget you can land some pretty wacky specs. I prefer to keep things within a reasonable realm, and that's exactly where LG's UltraGear 39GS95QE ultrawide monitor sits.

That's not to say it's not truly impressive, and its regular $1,500 price reflects that fact. It's a 39-inch ultrawide with an OLED panel and tons of other high-end features designed to accommodate enthusiasts with powerful gaming PCs. It's usually out of my price range, but the 45% drop to $824.99 $803.54 at Amazon for Prime Day has me seriously considering an upgrade.

This is the OLED upgrade I've been waiting for

I'll admit it: I'm a sucker for ultrawide gaming monitors. I've been using one for fun and work for the past few years, and anytime I return to a standard aspect ratio narrower than 21:9 I have a hard time setting things up properly.

If I was a competitive gamer it would be different, but my penchant for strategy, RPG, and single-player shooters is perfect for a wider display. That's without mentioning how much better it is to work on an ultrawide display where you can lay out multiple windows side-by-side. Alt-tabbing is a thing of the past.

The main gripe I have about my current ultrawide monitor is that it lacks an OLED panel. IPS has treated me well for years, but now that I've been testing hardware with OLED screens it's hard not to notice the massive difference the tech makes. 

OLED displays don't use traditional backlights; instead, each LED produces its own light when it's hit with electricity. That means blacks are truly black, whites are truly white, and everything in between has outstanding contrast. Once you make the switch to OLED, you won't want to go back.

The rest of the LG UltraGear OLED's specs mostly match up with what I'm currently using, although LG's monitor is massive at 39 inches. The curved OLED screen has a 21:9 aspect ratio, a stretched 3440x1440 resolution, a speedy 240Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03ms response time.

Other standout features include 98.5% DCI-P3 color reproduction (great for photo editors and creators), VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 support, an ergonomic stand with tilt, height, and swivel adjustments, and plenty of ports.

Make sure your PC can handle the monitor

The personal gaming PC I use now — with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU and Radeon RX 6800 GPU — can keep up quite well with my current ultrawide 1440p monitor, but anyone with a stronger PC will be able to take better advantage. AMD FreeSync Premium Pro is perfect for my system, though it's also compatible with G-Sync. 

Consider this: If you have a PC that currently struggles with 1440p at a standard aspect ratio, adding more pixels won't do it any favors. OLED tech doesn't add any strain to the system, but you'll want to take into account the 240Hz refresh rate. It's not easy to push frame rates that high in most games if you don't have an expensive PC, so be sure you aren't overspending. That's my main issue here, but I am planning on upgrading my PC soon.

What is the best TV for gaming?

Buying the best gaming TV can feel daunting. There are a lot of specs to look out for if you want to get the most out of your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, or PS5. Streaming services such as NVIDIA GeForce Now also come into play, since some TVs work better with game streaming than others. Thankfully, our colleagues over at What Hi-Fi have a guide on the best gaming TVs, making the hunt for the perfect picture much simpler.

The LG C4 sits at the top of that list, earning high marks for its "punchy, sharp, rich and vibrant, yet still natural, much improved sound quality, excellent UI and flawless gaming specs." Those specs include four full speed HDMI 2.1 ports, Dolby Vision Gaming HDR support, VRR (variable refresh rate) support, ALLM (auto low latency mode) support, and a screen that tops out at 4K/144Hz. The TV also supports NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium.

Since the LG C4 supports webOS, which has a vast library of apps, you can also stream games to it through NVIDIA GeForce Now.

In their review of the LG C4, What Hi-Fi concluded by saying "the 42-inch LG C4 is the best small OLED TV money can buy right now." When that review came out, the LG C4 was more expensive, though it had already dropped from its $1,400 launch price. At $946.99, you can get the best gaming TV at a great price.

LG C4 review highlights

The LG C4 is the successor to the popular and well-reviewed LG C3. In their LG C4 review, our friends at What Hi-Fi explained how the LG C4 builds on the impressive legacy of the lineup.

Despite being a relatively small TV, the 42-inch LG C4 has the same port selection as its larger siblings. "The inclusion of four HDMI 2.1 inputs makes it a great option for gamers, as current generation PCs and games consoles require the connectivity to run at full speed," said What Hi-Fi.

While you likely clicked on this post to read about the gaming specs of the LG C4, it's worth talking about the TV's picture quality for enjoying TV shows and movies. Luckily, the LG C4 does well in that regard as well.

"The C4 delivers brilliant peaks, with the sun reflecting in the ocean in Maverick, revealing impressive levels of detail and a true sense of three dimensionality as the rippling waves cascade into the distance," said What Hi-Fi.

"Contrast levels as the movie transitions to Maverick riding his motorbike through the desert are wide and impactful. Movements look wonderfully smooth and artefacts never creep into the rapid movement of the bike. All-in-all, the panning shot feels smooth and natural from start to finish."

You may have to play around with the TV's settings a bit to get the perfect picture, but the LG C4 has impressive specs that translate to real-world usage.

The speakers of the LG C4 are a relative weak point for the TV. You may need to grab one of the best soundbars to get audio that matches the video shown by the LG C4.

"The 42-inch LG C4 is the best small OLED TV money can buy right now," concluded What Hi-Fi. "Though its audio isn't the best, it delivers a wonderfully punchy, immersive viewing experience despite its small form factor, with noticeably higher peak brightness than its older rivals."

A TV nearly impossible to resist

I need a new bed. It's an investment into my future, considering how much of lives we spend asleep, and it's worth me spending a pretty sum of cash to obtain a nice mattress. My plan was always to purchase a new LG OLED TV after my new bed was obtained and fully paid off, but Amazon Prime Day and surrounding deals threatens to upheave all my aspirations with a nearly irresistible deal on the incredible LG Class C3 Series OLED evo TV.

Sadly, Windows Central doesn't review TVs, so I can't refer you to our own expert coverage of this television. With a 120Hz refresh rate and variable refresh rate (VRR) support, multiple HDMI 2.1 ports (which fully support the TV's complete feature set), HDMI-CEC support for cross-device control and integration, Dolby Vision for incredible high-dynamic range, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync support, and LG's own long list of gaming software features, there are a lot of reasons the LG Class C3 is our top pick for the best Xbox Series X|S TV.

The LG gram is LG's premiere lightweight laptop line. They are designed to be powerful and competent laptops with great designs, but not at the cost of weight. For example, this LG Gram SuperSlim is just 2lbs, which is much lighter than your usual 15.6-inch laptop, which can often come in around or about 3 lbs.

LG's SuperSlim branding just means the laptop is incredibly thin. In this case, the Gram SuperSlim 15.6-inch is just 0.5-inches at its thickest point, which isn't very thick at all! How they fit a 60Wh battery in here I'll never know.

Are the LG Gram SuperSlim's specs good?

The specs on this LG Gram SuperSlim are very impressive for just $800. You're getting an expansive 15.6-inch display that also happens to be an Full HD OLED panel, which means colors are super contrasty and pop really well. The LG C3 is the best 4K TV for Xbox Series X and Series S. It's also an impressive television for PC gaming if you prefer to sit on the couch while enjoying the best PC games. That's not quite its lowest price ever (it dropped to $1,437.99 briefly), but it's still a significant discount compared to the retail price.

As a quick point of clarification regarding the size of the discount on the LG C3, the TV launched at $2,599.99 in May of 2023. It has since dropped in price incrementally, including a brief dip to $1,437.99 for the 65-inch model just a few days ago. The current price of $1596.99 is about where the TV has settled in terms of price, though it occasionally goes up and down.

The size of the current discount varies depending on the retailer you shop through. Amazon lists a 20% savings, which comes to $403. Best Buy only lists a discount of $100, despite the price through that retailer being almost identical to what Amazon lists the TV for.

LG just announced a new monitor that could finally settle one of the oldest debates in gaming, or at least remove the need to pick a side. Online forums and social media are full of arguments about which is more important, framerate or resolution. The newly announced LG UltraGear 32GS95UE eliminates the need for that question by letting you swap between them with a single click.

The LG UltraGear 32GS95UE is a 32-inch OLED monitor with up to a 480Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time. It also supports NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. Those specs alone would make the LG UltraGear 32GS95UE worth a look as a gaming monitor, but its Dual-Hz design is its standout feature.

Before I dive further into the Dual-Hz design of the LG UltraGear 32GS95UE, I'll run through its other specs. After all, a cool feature that lets you switch refresh rate isn't worth much if the rest of the monitor lacks the features you need.

The OLED panel of the LG UltraGear 32GS95UE has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. That screen is anti-glare, low reflection (AGLR) as well. The 16:9 aspect ratio of the panel is common among gaming monitors, though some companies have shifted toward wider or taller aspect ratios.

DCI-P3 98.5% color coverage and a 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio should help colors pop and show a clear distinction between bright and dark parts of gameplay. All four bezels that surround the display are incredibly thin.

The monitor has Pixel Sound technology and front-facing speakers that are hidden behind the display.

Frame rate vs. resolution

Very few games or gaming PCs can fully take advantage of a 480Hz refresh rate, but it's nice to have the option. When paired with a 0.03ms GtG response time, games should look incredibly smooth on the LG UltraGear 32GS95UE. The ability to switch between a higher fresh rate and a lower one is quite intriguing.

Generally, shopping for a gaming monitor requires a person to prioritize maximum refresh rate and higher resolution. The highest refresh rates often come on FHD monitors and 4K monitors come with lower refresh rates. The LG UltraGear 32GS95UE balances that tension with the option to swap between modes with a single click.

The LG UltraGear 32GS95UE is the first UltraGear monitor to have Dual-Hz, so we'll have to see it in the real-world before judging it. But the concept is promising, especially if you play different types of games. A first-person shooter may deliver the best experience with your monitor set to 480Hz while more cinematic titles would get the most out of 4K resolution at 240Hz.

Choosing between frame rate and resolution is often a stressful debate among gamers, including people arguing with themselves about which is more important. The LG UltraGear 32GS95UE cuts through that with its Dual-Hz design.

Your best chance to secure an LG OLED TV for less than $1,000

I'm struggling not to pull the trigger on one of these deals. Seriously, I need a new mattress (and my TV is working fine). I can wait another year, maybe for the C4! But... Best Buy has discounted the A2 OLED TV a lot since its release, but it has never been lower than it is right now. $549.99 for a high-quality, gorgeous 4K OLED TV? My goodness, that's tempting. Of course, if you prefer more real estate, you can spend extra for the more premium Class B3 or Class C3 OLED TVs. The sweet spot for most people will be the Class B3, which has 99% of the features of the C3 but loses a little picture quality, brightness, and hundreds of dollars off its price tag. It's also perfect for gaming on your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console, with a crisp 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Whichever TV you buy, you can rest assured you'll have the best-looking TV out of all your friends. Heck, the A2 OLED is so affordable, it'd make an awesome gift to your kids, too. Either way, I'm here struggling not to whip out the ole' credit card to make a purchase I don't really need.

I do suggest making your purchase from Best Buy, though. You can maybe save a few bucks at other retailers (or if you want Amazon Alexa instead of Google Assistant on your TV, a decent chunk at Amazon), but Best Buy offers in-store pickup, fast standard shipping, solid customer support (that has helped me in the past), and solid return windows. A super weird monitor that enhances productivity

According to LG, the DualUp is a more efficient use of virtual desk space when using your PC. LG argues that much of the content you consumer on a computer these days is formatted horizontally, so a taller display enables the ability to see more of that content on screen at once.

We've seen this a little bit with PC makers slowly moving to 16:10 and 3:2 aspect ratios, which are slightly taller than the common 16:9 displays you're probably used to. but 16:18 takes things to a whole new level, essentially bundling the equivalent of two 16:9 displays bolted together vertically.

In fact, one of the features of the DualUp is the ability to display two sources at once in that above and below configuration, essentially giving you two monitors in one. It also supports HDR10 content, and has USB-C Type C input with 90W of power delivery to keep your laptop charged.

I've had my eye on the LG DualUp for a while, because I like the idea. The monitor even comes with LG's excellent ergo-stand, which is able to swivel and adjust in any way you like, meaning you can position the monitor where you find it most comfortable. 

For me, I'm going to use it as a secondary monitor for monitoring Slack or TweetDeck, as I think it's perfectly suited for that. 

Black Friday sales are full of gaming accessories and monitors to choose from, and while it's tempting to be swayed by the lure of the ultra-wide 4K bad boys, I'm really just a simple girl and prefer a small flat monitor that doesn't take up half of my small desk, and it needs to be from a brand I trust. Once a novelty or prototype, foldable PCs are here and on store shelves. Lenovo sprung the form factor into the forefront with the ThinkPad X1 Fold. ASUS then followed up with the Zenbook 17 Fold and HP announced the Spectre Foldable earlier this month. Now, LG is in on the foldable action, though you likely won't be able to buy this particular PC.

LG just launched the Gram Fold, a foldable PC featuring a 17-inch display. The PC can be used in a variety of orientations, such as folded vertically like a book or fully extended as a large tablet. You can place a Bluetooth keyboard over the bottom half of the Gram Fold to use the PC like a traditional clamshell laptop that has a 12-inch screen.

Unfortunately for most people interested in the device, it's not clear if the LG Gram Fold will ship to most markets. At the moment, it is only available in limited quantities within South Korea. The regular price for the Gram Fold is 4.99 million won, which is roughly $3,729. There's a promotional price of 3.99 million won (roughly $3,499) for the first 200 customers.

That price sits between other foldable PCs, such as the ASUS ZenBook 17 Fold ($3,500) and the newly announced HP Spectre Foldable ($5,000).

We'll have to wait to see if LG decides to ship the Gram Fold to other markets. The foldable PC space is far from crowded, so competition would be welcome in western markets.

We're in a bit of a lull when it comes to laptop deals. Back-to-school sales are over and Amazon's October Prime Day is still a few weeks away. But if you know where to look, you can save hundreds of dollars on some of the best Windows laptops. That's the case for the LG gram 17, which is currently $800 off at Best Buy.

The particular model that's on sale runs on a 12th Gen Intel Core CPU paired with Intel Iris Xe graphics. The $800 discount brings the price down to $999.99 but that deal ends at the end of today, September 20, 2023. That version of the LG gram 17 stared shipping in 2022. If you'd like a newer laptop, a 2023 model with a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 chip and NVIDIA RTX 3050 graphics is also on sale. That LG gram 17 is down to $1,599.99 following a $400 discount.

The LG gram 17 is a lightweight laptop that features a large screen. The idea behind it is to deliver a massive display without making you lug around a heavy monster of a PC. It's not as powerful as some other large laptops, but it's perfect for people who need a PC for everyday computing that want a large screen.

For the last three weeks, I've been using the LG gram 15.6-inch SuperSlim OLED as my work laptop and the device I use in my free time to surf the web, work in Photoshop, and watch shows. While not a powerhouse, this extremely thin laptop has proven that it's a great choice for anyone looking for a work laptop that's easy to transport. It's one of the best laptops for people who often work in spreadsheets or other horizontally long documents.

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Price & availability

There are three configuration options of the LG gram SuperSlim 15.6-inch OLED available. Each one has the same CPU and GPU. It's just that the amount of RAM and SSD storage changes between the three SuperSlim 15.6-inch options, which affects the price. The version with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD has an MSRP of $1,699.99. Meanwhile, the version I tested, the 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD, sells for $1,799.99. Lastly, the 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD's MSRP is $1,999.99. Honestly, each of these configurations is a bit expensive for what is offered, but the laptop works well.

Overall, the LG gram SuperSlim OLED is a very impressive laptop that will be especially helpful for those who work within numeric spreadsheets and need a laptop on the go. 

When I first lifted the LG gram SuperSlim out of the box, I was immediately struck by how thin it was. The name had given me a reason to assume this laptop wouldn't be very bulky, but feeling the extremely lightweight 2.18 lb (0.98kg) device and seeing the 15mm thick frame for myself had a powerful effect. I don't think I've ever seen this big of a laptop with this slim of a casing before. In some ways, it's easy to forget it even is a laptop due to how light it feels in my hands. 

To make this extremely thin casing possible, a few things had to be left out. There are no HDMI ports, microSD card slots, or USB-A connection points. This rather minimalist laptop features only three USB-C ports (two Thunderbolt 4 with power delivery and display port) and a headphone jack. However, a numeric number pad makes it rather useful for people who deal with numbers and will be working in spreadsheets.

The first time I opened the laptop and got a good look at it, I thought the display looked a little squat and long (it's 16x9, whereas most new laptops have shifted to a taller 16x10 aspect ratio). This is due to the inclusion of the aforementioned numeric keypad, which extends the base keyboard space (and thus extends the panel width to meet it). The display is also much wider than it is long compared to other more square-shaped displays, but this is once more a very helpful trait if you've got work documents open and are filling rows in with lots of data as it allows you to see more horizontally before you need to scroll. At any rate, doing other activities like browsing the internet, playing games, or watching shows on this panel doesn't look strange. 

Something that I really like about LG is its Smart Assistant, which allows me to easily adjust various settings to get the laptop running just the way I like it. I can change how fast the fans are moving, quickly turn on Dark Mode, adjust display brightness, make the laptop focus on extending battery life, adjust the AI microphone's noise-canceling abilities, and much more, all from LG Smart Assistant's intuitive layout. 

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Performance

While the ultra-slim casing of the LG gram is impressive, it made me assume that some concessions had to be made in the way of performance to get this laptop to be as thin and lightweight as it is. This turned out to be true. While it's perfectly suited to handling simple office work, you shouldn't plan on running more demanding programs on it. 

The LG gram SuperSlim houses an Intel Core i7-1360P CPU (12 cores, 5.0GHz), which works alongside an Intel Iris Xe GPU. Neither of these is really all that powerful, but they offer steady and stable performance to handle day-to-day, general office tasks very well. During my PCMark 10 testing, which measures how well the laptop performs while doing general office tasks like browsing the internet, running video calls, and opening programs, the LG gram SuperSlim scored a modest score of 5,328, which puts it about the same as the Surface Pro 9's score of 5,333. Meanwhile, when put through Geekbench 6 testing, it earned a respectable single-core score of 2,608 with a multi-core score of 9.832, which places its performance where I'd expect it between the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro and the ThinkPad X1 Yoga (Gen 8). 

However, during CrystalDiskMark testing, which measures the laptop's sequential read and write speeds, the LG gram proved to be one of the fastest laptops I've ever seen (just below the latest Dell XPS 17 and Dell XPS 15) with a truly impressive read speed of 7,070 MB/s and a write speed of 6,395 MB/s. This means it opens programs and saves data very quickly to reduce load times, which I definitely experience myself while working in various programs, opening files, and saving projects.

The LG gram keeps up with my Photoshop needs as long as I don't have too many projects open at once and even handles some simple gaming thanks to the Iris Xe Graphics it employs. However, don't expect to use it on more graphic-intensive tasks like video editing and the most demanding games. Photoshop gets rather slow if I have too many files open or multitasking between various programs simultaneously. 

Additionally, when I attempt to play Cyberpunk 2077 on the LG gram, the laptop stutters and cannot keep up a decent frame rate even on lower settings. But this isn't one of the best gaming laptops, so that's to be expected. 

The benchmark testing further illustrates the LG gram SuperSlim's lower graphical performance. In 3DMark Time Spy, a software that tests GPU and CPU performance while running a demanding sequence, the LG gram only scored a very low 1,254. Performance-wise, this puts it between the Surface Laptop 4 and the Asus Zenbook 14 OLED that I recently reviewed. Later, when I ran the laptop through Cinebench testing, which checks the system's rendering performance, the LG gram earned a single-core score of 1,531 and a multi-core score of 5,715. Neither of these is very impressive, but it's where I expect the laptop to be. 

At the end of the day, the LG gram 15 OLED is specifically meant for light office tasks like video calls, spreadsheets, general programs, internet browsing, and video streaming. It can serve you well if you don't intend to run intensive programs and demanding games (although Xbox Cloud Gaming is always a nice option). 

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Display

There's something to be said about laptops that make the jump to OLED. They almost always offer amazing color accuracy and contrast. But the long and short of it for LG gram SuperSlim is that the 16x9 full HD (1920x1080, non-touch) display looks phenomenal. 

When doing my colorimeter test, it produced 100% of sRGB, 98% of AdobeRGB, and 100% of P3. This isn't surprising since I've constantly noted its crisp depictions and vibrant colors.

As expected with OLED displays, this one achieves true black, which allows darker visuals to pop with plenty of detail rather than getting everything muddled with IPS glow or other distracting display issues. Whenever I watched a show or played a game, everything looked amazing, with a great contrast ratio and plenty of vibrancy. 

I was surprised to find that unlike many other laptops on the market today, this one doesn't have a touchscreen. It's not the end of the world or anything. It just makes it so that the display might not be as convenient as it could be. 

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Battery life

As part of being designed around ultra-portability, the LG gram SuperSlim offers great battery life. With the display at 50% brightness and running everyday office tasks like attending video calls, browsing the internet, running programs, and multitasking, the LG gram lasted for a total of nine hours and 10 minutes. It's not the longest battery life I've seen, but it can get you through a workday easily enough. 

Of course, the battery life of any device always depends upon the temperature of its location and what programs it is running. More demanding programs and extreme climates will drain the battery much faster. As such, I conducted my battery testing while in a cool, dry room. If you think you'll be using the laptop outside in the elements or you might have more demanding software running, then you can expect the laptop not to last as long. 

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Keyboard & touchpad

I personally really love it when a numeric keypad is on a laptop, as I find this so much more appealing to use than the thin line of number keys along the top of the main keyboard. The LG gram's keys feel good to press, delivering subtle resistance for a satisfying tap each time. For the most part, the keys are all spaced out well and are easy to reach. 

I love the location of the power button on the upper right corner of the number pad, and I find the various function shortcuts allow me to access the tools I need very quickly. There are the usual brightness, volume, and mute keys as well as a button that adjusts keypad backlighting brightness, a key for toggling Reader Mode (which reduces blue lighting), an Airplane mode key, a Display settings key, and a convenient function key to reach LG Smart Assistant. 

However, my one problem with the layout is that the backspace button feels a little small. I tend to tap the keys around it when reaching for it accidentally, but this will improve with practice for anyone who buys the laptop. Additionally, unlike many other laptops, the LG gram does not offer a fingerprint reader, so you cannot unlock the computer or sign off on things that way. 

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Camera, mic, & audio

A Full HD 1080p webcam lies nestled in the top middle of the display bezel. While it isn't anything amazing, it does pick up good colors and works well even in somewhat darker rooms. It's plenty good enough for work meetings or video calls with family and friends. You don't have to worry about the mic performing badly, either. Whenever I attended video conferences using the LG gram, I was told that my voice came through clearly and without any distracting noises. 

As far as audio goes, the LG gram SuperSlim harbors two 2W stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, but the sound quality that comes through is subpar. The volume gets decently loud but not as loud as some might like. While listening to various music tracks or playing games, the music came through sounding muddled and fuzzy, that's definitely not the way I want to jam out to my favorite beats. If you care about audio, you'll want to attach one of the best computer speakers to the laptop (or use the best PC gaming headset). 

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Competition

There are increasingly more 16-inch Windows laptops, but few, if any, even approach the thinness and lightness of LG's gram-series.

Regarding matching the LG gram SuperSlim's CPU and GPU, the HP ENVY 2 is a FHD 15.6-inch touchscreen laptop that offers the same Intel Core i7 evo processor and Iris Xe graphics card. It might not be as thin, but it is a reliable device that can be found selling for a decent amount cheaper than the LG gram SuperSlim.

But probably the best premium alternative is Samsung's excellent Galaxy Book3 Pro 16-inch. It's over a pound heavier at 3.4 lbs (1.56kg). Still, you get Samsung's outstanding 3K AMOLED screen, a number pad, metal chassis, much better audio, and better interoperability with your Android Samsung phone (assuming you have one). We recently reviewed the smaller Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 14", which is basically the same, and loved it. Pricing starts at $1,749.

Let's not leave Acer out. The company announced the Swifte Edge 16" back in October, and it features a higher-resolution 3840x2400 16x10 OLED display, and it weighs just 2.58 lbs (1.17kg). While that's technically heavier than the LG gram SuperSlim, it's not by much! However, instead of Intel, that system ships with various AMD Ryzen processors, including up to the powerful Ryzen 7 6800/6850U processors (up to 4.7GHz). Pricing starts at $1,299.

LG gram SuperSlim 15.6" OLED (15Z90RT): Should you buy it?

You should buy this if...

• You want the lightest 16-inch Windows laptop available
• You need a work laptop for spreadsheets, writing, and other basic tasks
• You're looking for an OLED laptop display that shows off shows and visuals to amazing effect
• You're looking for an extremely light and thin laptop

You should not buy this if...

• You like to multitask between several programs and need something with a lot of processing power
• You need a laptop with extra long battery life
• You want something that doesn't cost as much

With its extremely lightweight build, this 15.6-inch laptop is a great device to use on the go. The wide OLED display is especially suited to handling work documents with tons of data and combined with the numeric keypad. It's a spreadsheet user's dream setup. LG Assistant makes it easy to adjust the settings to just how you want them, and the laptop runs relatively quiet overall so that it won't distract you or those around you. 

However, while the LG gram is great at handling video calls, general office programs, writing, internet surfing, and video streaming, it cannot handle more intensive programs. It's also priced higher than I would expect for the components it uses. But if you're simply looking for a laptop that can handle your basic work needs, while also being the lightest available in its class, then the LG gram is a great way to go.

Amazon Prime Day 2023 is proving to be one of the best times to pick up a brand-new gaming monitor, with some insane deals going on. This is by far one of the best deals I've seen, though, as it takes an already well-loved budget gaming monitor from LG and cuts its price down by another $100. Why I recommend this deal

With a normal retail price of just $300, the LG UltraGear 27" recommended here is already a fantastic deal. Its IPS LCD display is surprisingly color accurate and provides great overall picture quality, and its array of gaming features and hardware translates to impeccable gaming performance. The monitor is very well-reviewed by users and critics alike for its combination of quality and value, and that's without a substantial discount.

At $100 off for Amazon Prime Day, this gaming monitor is now basically unbeatable for sheer value. You will need to be an Amazon Prime member, though, so check below for links to the free trial and more if you're not one. LG's budget 27-inch UltraGear is one of the best gaming monitors in the $300 price bracket, let alone the $200 one. Reviews praise it for the fantastic display, low input lag for better gaming performance, perfectly balanced specs sheet of features and capabilities, and very competitive pricing.

Nothing is perfect, of course. Budget gaming monitors are typically more prone to quality control issues (and less likely to receive stellar support from companies), and some users report issues with getting 144Hz to work (be sure to use the DisplayPort if you want the fast refresh rate, as the monitor's HDMI ports do not support the full 144Hz). The HDR support is great to have but is admittedly basic in this monitor, while some other users stated they needed to calibrate the display before use.

None of this prevents this monitor from achieving "steal of the day" status for Amazon Prime Day. I'd heartily recommend it without a single discount to its name, but $100 off is too good to be true. I wish this monitor had existed when I was building my first gaming setup, as it's genuinely a higher-quality monitor than the Dell gaming monitor I bought for $450 a few years ago. The LG UltraGear 27" (27GL83A-B) is just $200 at Amazon for Prime Day, and it should be everyone's go-to when considering budget-friendly gaming monitors in that price range.

Why I recommend this deal

After using this 34-inch monitor for the better part of two years now, my favorite thing about it has been its excellent image quality and color accuracy. It sports a rich DCI-P3 98% color gamut and a great peak brightness of ~500 nits in SDR, which can be boosted up to 600 with HDR enabled. At the display's native 3440x1440 resolution, games look fantastic, and the viewing experience for films and TV shows is great, too. The 1,000:1 contrast ratio isn't ideal, but it's the standard for most IPS monitors, and the inclusion of 56 local dimming zones does help to deepen in-game blacks considerably.

There's also the desirable 144Hz refresh rate, which you can increase up to a maximum of 180Hz with LG's factory overclocking. If you've got a beefy gaming PC equipped with some of the best hardware that manufacturers like Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA have to offer, this monitor will allow you to enjoy your games at excellent framerates. You also get NVIDIA G-SYNC, along with a speedy 1ms response time and no discernible input lag to speak of.

I love the physical design of the monitor, too, as it features LG's "virtually borderless" thin bezels, support for height and tilt adjustment, a hook on the stand that you can use for cable management, and a ring of impressively bright built-in RGB lights on the back that you can customize with the LG UltraGear Control Center software (you can even make the lights match the color of what's on-screen, which looks sweet). The curve of the display is 1900R, which is moderate and what I personally prefer over more aggressive curvatures like 1000R. Ports include one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0, one USB-B upstream, a pair of USB-A downstream slots, and 3.5mm audio.

One thing I would have liked to see with the monitor's stand is the ability to swivel the panel horizontally, but for me, that's only a minor issue. Ultimately, this is one of the best gaming monitors on the market if you're after an ultrawide, and thanks to this Prime Day deal, there's never been a better time to pull the trigger.

A new LG gram laptop is now available, and it's the thinnest PC to ever come out of the lineup. The LG gram SuperSlim is 0.43 inches (1.09 cm) thick. It weighs 2.18 lbs, making it just a hair under 1 kg (0.99 kg). The LG gram SuperSlim is available exclusively through LG until mid-May, at which point it will then become available through other retailers. The thin-and-light laptop starts at $1,700.

If you purchase a gram SuperSlim through LG before May 14, 2023, you'll also receive a free LG gram +view portable monitor, which retails for $350.

Inside, the laptop runs on a 13th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and Intel Iris Xe graphics. It features a 15.6-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. That screen is also VESA DisplayHDR True Black certified.

If those specs sound familiar to you, you likely followed our CES coverage earlier this year. LG announced a gram UltraSlim laptop at the event, and that laptop has since been rebranded to the LG gram SuperSlim.

Despite its thin form factor, the LG gram SuperSlim passed seven tests for military-grade durability (MIL-STD 810H tests).

Thanks to its size, the LG gram SuperSlim has enough room for a full number pad. The LG gram 17 is already on our list of the best laptops with number pads, and we may see LG earn another spot on that list with the gram SuperSlim.

Microsoft has several new capabilities on the way for Cloud PCs that make them more flexible. The tech giant unveiled Windows 365 Frontline today, which allows organizations to split licenses for Cloud PCs between multiple people, such as shift and part-time workers.

Microsoft also announced that Windows 365 Cloud PCs are now accessible through LG's 2023 smart televisions and unveiled new capabilities for Android devices. The Windows 365 app is now available through the Microsoft Store as well.

Windows 365 on TVs

Microsoft only mentioned LG's 2023 TVs by name, but more televisions are expected to support cloud PCs in the future. Our colleagues at Tom's Guide have a piece breaking down all of LG's 2023 TVs, in case you want to pick one up.

"You’re going to see a lot of partners that are interested in this... you can imagine there’s probably a long line of partners that are interested in a very similar experience," said Microsoft Designer and Director of Windows 365 Scott Manchester to The Verge.

Support for LG TVs lets users access a cloud PC by connecting a Bluetooth keyboard and a mouse to a television.

Not Continuum, but close

A new Windows 365 experience is on the way for Android devices as well. "This new built-in experience will allow people to use the ThinkPhone to plug-and-play Windows 365 connectivity that finds and automatically configures their Cloud PC for use on an external screen," said general manager for modern work apps at Microsoft Wangui McKelvey.

Microsoft's post highlights the Lenovo ThinkPhone but mentions other Android devices in a general sense, so the functionality seems to be on the way to more hardware. The Surface Duo has a secret Continuum mode, which also relies on Windows 365.

That functionality will sound similar to anyone who remembers Continuum, a feature on Windows 10 Mobile that turned a smartphone into a PC when connected to a display. The main difference is that the Windows 365 experience is for a Cloud PC rather than processing being handled by a mobile device.

While the method of getting a PC onto a monitor is different, the Windows 365 experience will deliver the same benefit, people being able to run their own PC at a hot desk.

Windows 365 Frontline

Windows 365 Frontline is available in public preview starting today. It allows users to connect to Cloud PCs running Windows 11 or Windows 10. It's very similar to Windows 365, but Windows 365 Frontline supports up to three people accessing a system with a single license.

This setup is designed for shift workers or those that work part time. It allows an organization to pay for fewer licenses, since it's only paying for the Cloud PCs it is actively using. For example, a hospital could have employees working in shifts and transition between them throughout each working day. That hospital would only have to pay for the number of licenses it needed at any given time, not the number of people that need to access Cloud PCs.

IT managers will have a range of options to streamline how Cloud PCs are accessed, such as being able to log a system off a session if an employee forgets to log out. It will also be possible to set machines to log off automatically. A queue will be able to be set up for anyone waiting to use a Cloud PC as well.

More Windows 365 improvements

Windows 365 Frontline isn't the only improvement on the way to Cloud PCs. Microsoft is also working on Windows 365 Boot, which will let users sign in to Cloud PCs directly rather than booting up to the OS running natively on the machine.

Windows 365 Switch is also in the works. That feature places Cloud PCs within Task View in Windows 11, making it easy to switch between Windows 11 running natively on a PC and a Cloud PC.

The Verge reported that Windows 365 Boot and Windows 365 Switch are in private testing at Microsoft and are on pace to ship to general users later this year.

When Dell first announced the XPS 13 Plus, it is safe to say that people’s jaws were on the floor at how forward-leaning and futuristic the laptop is versus everything else. Super thin bezels, an edge-to-edge keyboard, an LED function bar, and zero-lattice keys gave the XPS 13 Plus an unquestionably unique look.

But the “invisible” haptic touchpad divided tech glitterati and potential customers. After all, how do you know where to put your fingers if you can’t see the touchpad’s borders?

Dell was able to go with this design because the touchpad isn’t physical – it doesn’t actually click. Instead, piezo sensors detect your fingers, and the touchpad vibrates, simulating touch. (Apple has done this for years on the MacBook, but the tech on laptops like the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is newer and much more advanced). Dell then made the entire lower keyboard deck all glass, which looks fantastic, although many questioned its usability.

The question of usableness, in my opinion, is moot primarily as muscle memory and simple intuition make using the XPS 13 Plus’s touchpad a breeze. In addition, the touch area is big enough, and when you press down, it “moves” just like a mechanical touchpad.

Basically, could you not knock it until you try it?

All that said, it is a valid point of contention and debate in laptop design. Lenovo tells me it prototyped the same layout as Dell for its new ThinkPad Z13 and Z16 laptops, which also use haptics but ultimately opted for a more traditional design with a faux touchpad area.

Enter LG on January 4, 2023, with its new LG Gram Style 14 and 16 laptops with a simple solution to the “invisible” touchpad.

The Gram Style borrows a similar large Gorilla Glass 3 area on the keyboard deck’s lower half but opts for a beautiful iridescent material that shimmers in the light. That deck also hides, you guessed it, an unseen haptic touchpad.

But is it really hidden? Nope, because LG has a trick up its sleeve.

LG decided to add two very soft LED lines of light on each side of the touchpad that appear only when you touch the touchpad area. The lights quickly fade, which is ideal for reducing any residual power consumption.

LG’s solution here is simple and simply brilliant. Each time you use the touchpad, you’ll visually get a quick reminder of where the touchpad’s edges begin and end. (I’m assuming you can probably disable it as well, or maybe even leave them on all the time, but I have not yet confirmed that.)

None of this is groundbreaking per se, but as haptics become more critical to the PC and laptop space, it’s great to see these clever and minimal solutions to new problems. The great thing about LG’s answer is that it is not only functional but also ticks the box for looking cool and futuristic.

Oh, and the rest of the Gram Style is also quite fantastic. Weighing just 2.7lbs at 16-inches (!) and packing a 3200 x 2000 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh, a new 13th Gen Raptor Lake Intel Core i7 P-series processor, and Gen4 NVMe SSD, these laptops will be powerful as well as stylish.

No word on pricing for the LG Gram Style, but it could push into the $2,000 mark. We’ll see if it makes our best laptop list going into 2023, but it already won an award for Best of CES 20023 for innovation in design.

Your move, Dell.

CES 2023 has officially wrapped up, leaving us with a litany of devices to study and look forward to throughout the year. Just about all of the major tech brands made at least one announcement during or centered around the conference. AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA made CPU and GPU news while Dell, LG, Lenovo, and Razer were among the many OEMs to unveil laptops, PCs, and accessories.

With so many announcements to sort through, it's easy to miss a few, or even tune out the news since it comes so quickly. Here's a recap of the biggest announcements at CES 2023, at least on the Windows side of things. Our colleagues over at Android Central covered CES too.

NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti

What was arguably the biggest news of last week wasn't necessarily good news. NVIDIA confirmed pricing for its RTX 4070 Ti graphics card. That GPU was once known as the RTX 4080 before NVIDIA pulled its launch and rebranded it under the 4070 Ti moniker.

The RTX 4070 Ti was officially announced at CES 2023 in a move that was a bit of a surprise. The graphics card is designed for 1440p gaming. Its pricing starts at $800, which is $100 less than what it was going to priced at when it was the RTX 4080. That fact irked many, who point to the price drop as proof that the card was overpriced under its previous branding.

While the pricing proved controversial, the RTX 4070 Ti will likely be among the best graphics cards when it comes to performance. The card should handle the best PC games at 1440p and be able to power some 4K gaming, especially if you take advantage of Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) 3, which is exclusive to NVIDIA's RTX 40 series.

AMD Ryzen 7000 laptop CPUs

AMD also hit the showroom floor at CES. The company unveiled its Ryzen 7000 series laptop CPUs for the next wave of PCs. Many of the laptops announced at the conference had variants powered by AMD's latest chips. Since the Ryzen 7000 range has a mixture of architectures and naming schemes, it can be a bit confusing. Our managing editor Richard Devine broke down all of the new chips last week.

Here's a quick rundown: 

• Ryzen 7020 series: Based on Zen 2, with a maximum of 4-cores and 8-threads. Integrated graphics based on RDNA 2. Supports LPDDR5 memory.
• Ryzen 7030 series: Based on Zen 3, with a maximum of 8-cores and 16-threads. Integrated graphics based on Vega, and supports DDR4 and LPDDR4 memory. 
• Ryzen 7035 series: Based on Zen 3+, with a maximum of 8-cores and 16-threads. Integrated graphics based on RDNA 2, and supports DDR5 and LPDDR5 memory. 
• Ryzen 7040 series: Based on Zen 4, with a maximum of 8-cores and 16-threads. Integrated graphics based on RDNA 3, and supports DDR5 and LPDDR5 memory. 

AMD also announced Ryzen AI last week. It's an XDNA Adaptive AI architecture that will feature in the Ryzen 7040 series of processors. This is the first time that an AI engine has been integrated into an x86 CPU and it promises better efficiency in the area.

Intel 13th Gen chips

Intel had a massive CES. The chipmaker unveiled the 13th Gen Intel Core mobile CPUs that power many of the newly announced laptops from CES 2023. The company also expanded its 13th Gen desktop CPU lineup and announced the new entry-level Core i3 N-series mobile CPUs.

The family of 13th Gen Intel Core mobile processors includes the world's first 24-core processor for a laptop. In total, Intel announced 32 chips across its latest generation of mobile CPUs. The flagship Intel Core i9-13980HX holds the top spot of the family, thanks to its 24 cores. Our channel editor Ben Wilson shared the complete specs of all of the mobile CPUs last week.

Intel first announced its 13th Gen desktop CPUs back in September 2022, but those were K-series processors. Last week, the chipmaker took the wraps off its 65-watt and 35-watt 13th Gen desktop CPUs. The chips have up to 8 more efficiency cores than the previous generation, maxing out at a total of 24 (8 performance and 16 efficiency). I broke down the full specs of the chips during CES.

On the lower end of the processor spectrum, Intel announced its entry-level Core i3 N-series mobile CPUs. The N-series chips have up to 8 efficiency cores and are built on Intel 7 process tech. Those processors are designed for efficiency and are aimed at the education sector.

Lenovo's unique PCs

Lenovo announced a large library of devices at CES 2023, including Legion gaming PCs, a ThinkBook Twist with an e-ink display and an OLED screen, and a powerful All-in-One. But one device stood out, the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i. That laptop features a pair of OLED displays and looks like the spiritual successor to the never-released Surface Neo.

The Yoga Book 9i can flip around into different postures, similar to Lenovo's other Yoga Books. Unlike its flexible siblings, the Yoga Book 9i can also be used with its dual displays stacked vertically or horizontally, allowing the PC to act as a portable desktop.

An included Bluetooth keyboard can attach to the Yoga Book 9i magnetically, which lets a person use the computer as a traditional clamshell laptop.

The Yoga Book 9i looks like a mix of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold and the Microsoft Surface Neo, both of which have garnered attention from our readers over the years. The foldable PC is expected to ship in June 2023 with a starting price of $2,100.

Razer Blade 18, 16, and more

Razer announced its new lineup of Razer Blade laptops powered by 13th Gen Intel Core processors. The Razer Blade 16 features a dual-mode LED QHD+ display with a refresh rate of 240Hz and a brightness of 1000 nits. The company also unveiled the Razer Blade 18 and a range of accessories, including a webcam, a PC soundbar, and a gaming chair cushion with speakers and haptic feedback.

The Razer Blade 18 and Blade 16 run on 13th Gen mobile processors from Intel alongside NVIDIA RTX 4000 series graphics. They also support DDR5 memory and max out several other aspects of their respective spec sheets. Based on their specs and designs, both of Razer's new offerings should rank among the best gaming laptops.

There are quite a few models of the Razer Blade 18 and Blade 16, all of which were broken down by our gaming editor Rebecca Spear.

Quite a few gaming accessories and peripherals were shown off by Razer last week. Project Carol is a gaming chair head cushion that includes haptic feedback powered by Razer HyperSense and 7.1 surround sound audio.

The Razer Edge is the latest gaming handheld. It has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display and runs on the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 processor. With that hardware, the Razer Edge can play native Android games while also supporting streaming through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Rounding out the wave of announcements was the Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra Webcam, the Razer Leviathan V2 Pro soundbar, and an adjustable head strap for the Meta Quest 2.

HP's powerful PCs

HP showed off some powerful new PCs at CES 2023. Laptops and desktops from the OMEN lineup were unveiled, as well as the HP Dragonfly Pro and Dragonfly G4 laptops. The PCs run on the respective 13th Gen Intel CPUs for their form factor. The OMEN 40L and 45L top the charts with support for 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900K and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. On the laptop side of things, the OMEN 17 features a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900HX mobile processor.

The Dragonfly laptops are aimed at creators and freelancers. The Dragonfly Pro has an AMD Ryzen 7736U inside while the Dragonfly G4 has a 13th Gen Intel Core processor.

ASUS 3D display

ASUS showed off a new type of 3D OLED display that can make images appear in three dimensions without requiring special glasses. The screen is featured in the ASUS ProArt StudioBook 16 and VivoBook Pro 16X laptops. The laptops use what ASUS calls "Spatial Vision" to deliver a 3D experience that's unlike anything we've seen on a laptop before.

In addition to the screen itself, the secret sauce behind the 3D tech is eye tracking, which is built into both laptops. By following where a person's eyes are, the laptop can make the images appear properly in front of the user. It's a difficult feature to show off in videos, since it requires hardware that won't be available until later this year.

"One of the demos I experienced was a simple showcase of some 3D models, and it's hard to put into words how impressive they looked. The level of detail visible is remarkable," said our managing editor Richard Devine. "It takes a second or two for your eyes to adjust, but otherwise it just feels, well, normal."

ASUS also detailed its 2023 Strix lineup of gaming laptops at the event. Those PCs feature the latest hardware from Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD, depending on the model you choose.

LG took to CES 2023 to unveil two new additions to its ultra-light and ultra-slim Gram family. The Gram branding has been notable since its release for being among the lightest and slimmest Ultrabooks on the market, and LG is furthering this philosophy with the addition of the new LG Gram Ultraslim and LG Gram Style models at this year's Consumer Electronics Show. Both laptops utilize Intel's new 13th Gen mobile processors, giving them plenty of power and performance despite their small stature. 

Going slim with LG Gram Ultraslim

LG Gram Ultraslim is the company's new flagship ultra-slim, ultra-premium Ultrabook model, featuring a design that's made for portability. The Gram Ultraslim weighs just 998 grams, or the equivalent of just 2.2 pounds, and measures just 10.99mm thick, which the company claims is "around the same thickness of a smartphone or notepad." For comparison, Apple's M2-powered MacBook Air weighs 2.75 pounds measures 11.3mm thick, making it both heavier and thicker than LG's newest flagship laptop. 

The LG Gram Ultraslim, which has an unmemorable model number of 15Z90RT, comes with a 15.6-inch FHD OLED screen with an anti-glare low reflection coating. The screen can reach 400 nits of brightness and has a refresh rate of 60Hz. It comes with two Thunderbolt 4 over USB-C ports, one USB-C PD port, and a FHD IR camera. 

Powering the laptop is Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake silicon with Performance Cores (P-Cores) and Intel Xe graphics, LG said, alongside an ultra-compact power adaptor. The laptop is rated for MIL-810H specifications for durability, ensuring that it could survive some harsher conditions compared to most consumer laptops. And you can choose from models with storage that range from 256GB to 1TB of solid-state Gen4 NVMe drives as well as LPDDR5 memory from 8GB to 32GB. 

Getting in style with LG Gram Style

In addition to the flagship LG Gram Ultraslim, LG is also releasing two new LG Gram Style models, which will be available in either 16- or 14-inch display sizes. The 16-inch LG Gram Style comes with a model number of 16Z90RS, while the smaller variant comes with a model number of 14Z90RS. 

The larger LG Gram Style laptop comes with a WQXGA+ resolution OLED display with 3,200 x 2,000 pixels, while the smaller model comes with a WQXGA+ resolution OLED panel with 2,880 x 1,800 pixels. Like the LG Gram Ultraslim, both Gram Style models are equipped with Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors with P Cores. The larger laptop has a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is great for casual gaming, while the smaller model comes with a fixed 90Hz refresh rate screen. Cofigurations include LPDDR5 memory from 8GB to 32GB and storage capacities from 256GB to 1TB. 

And even more Grams

LG also introduced new 17-, 16-, 15-, and 14-inch Gram models, with the larger two Gram laptops coming with RTX 3050 discrete graphics. All of the new Gram models feature Intel's 13th Gen Raptors Lake P-Core silicon in a compact form factor that weighs under 1.45kg (3.19 pounds) and can last for more than 20 hours of video playback on a single charge, the company said in a statement. 

LG's Gram 2-in-1 models, in 14- and 16-inch display sizes, were also updated to Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake P-Core processors. Both convertible laptops feature support for LG's Wacom AES 2.0-powered Stylus Pen. Like the other members of the Gram family, these models also feature MIL-810H rating for extra durability.

LG just launched preorders for a pair of speedy gaming monitors. The 27'' UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor and 45'' UltraGear OLED Curved Gaming Monitor are the world's first 240Hz OLED gaming monitors, according to LG. Both of the monitors are available for preorder now through LG. The 27-inch display comes in at $999 while the larger 45-inch monitor is $1,699.

The two monitors share several specs, such as their respective 98.5% DCI-P3 color gamut and 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio. Both also have a response time of 0.03 milliseconds.

The 27'' UltraGear OLED Gaming Monitor features a flat QHD screen while the 45'' UltraGear OLED Curved Gaming Monitor has a WQHD display with an 800R curvature.

Both of LG's new gaming monitors support variable refresh rate, NVIDIA G-SYNC, FreeSync Premium, and VESA Adaptive Sync. 

LG will provide a closer look at the gaming monitors during CES 2023. The 45'' UltraGear OLED Curved Gaming Monitor is a CES 2023 Innovation Award honoree.

We'll have to see the displays in real-world usage before we can properly judge them, but their specs go toe-to-toe with the best gaming monitors.

I actually use a double monitor setup that features two of these 27-inch screens side-by-side. They are great gaming monitors, but they're also good for a lot of other things like writing posts about great gaming monitors. In fact, technically one of the monitors is the LG UltraGear 27GL850-B, which is very similar but includes a USB hub on the back. It also on sale for Black Friday and down to just $269.99, only $20 more.

You'll want to connect via DisplayPort anyway because that's the best way to ensure the maximum refresh rate, too. 

You can forego the stand and connect this monitor to an arm or wall mount. That's what I do. If you're interested, I use this Fully arm mount for both of my monitors (15% off for Black Friday).

It might seem a bit silly when you first look at it, but if you've already got a setup with stacked monitors or you're planning on creating one then the appeal of this monitor should be obvious. There are distinct advantages to having two screens on top of the other, especially if you're into video editing or content creation. Today you can get that in one fell swoop and save money in the process.

The LG DualUp 28BQ780-B monitor has dropped in price to just $589 at B&H. The monitor has sold for $700 since its release earlier this year, and it hadn't gone on sale until this week. But even at other retailers where it is dropping in price, none of them can match what B&H is doing right now. Keep in mind, the B&H deal is a part of the DealZone, which means it is temporary.

We called the DualUp one of the coolest announcements of CES 2022 in January. It is definitely one of the more unique monitors we've seen. I mean, forget UltraWides and curves and all that. The DualUp has a 16:18 aspect ratio and may be one of the only displays that does. Think of the 28-inch display really as more like two 21.5-inch monitors on top of each other. That gives you a lot of verticality to work with. You can either treat it as one big, vertical display or split it up using picture-in-picture mode and such. 

While probably not your go-to gaming monitor, it definitely has some appeal with editing and monitoring of applications like if you want to watch your Discord or Twitch chat while you live stream. It has a total pixel resolution of 2560 x 2880, includes HDR10 support, and uses LG's Nano IPS panel for amazing color accuracy.

The other unique thing about this monitor is that it forgoes the traditional monitor stand. Instead it uses a clamp system that attaches itself to your table or desk. This monitor assumes a lot about you and your style.

LG unveiled and launched a pair of UltraPC laptops this week. The LG UltraPC 17 and UltraPC 16 feature AI tools to protect your privacy and the latest processors from either AMD or Intel. The larger of the laptops, the LG UltraPC 17, runs on a 12th Gen Intel Core i7 processor paired with NVIDIA RTX 3050 graphics. The LG UltraPC 16 has an AMD Ryzen 7 5825U CPU inside that runs alongside AMD Radeon Vega graphics.

While both of LG's UltraPCs have large displays, they fit into relatively small bodies. The 16:10 screens are surrounded by thin bezels on the sides and top.

Both of LG's new laptops feature AI technology to protect people's privacy and enhance the PC experience. LG Glance by Mirametrix will automatically lock the screen of a laptop when a person moves away from the device. It will also blur the screen if a person peers over the primary use to sneak a peek at the display.

The laptops also have a feature that detects where a user is looking and moves the mouse cursor over accordingly.

On paper, the LG UltraPCs have the specs to compete with the best Windows laptops, but we'll have to see how they perform in the real world to get a proper gauge.

LG just announced a bendable TV at IFA 2022. The LG OLED Flex (LX3) features the "world's first bendable 42-inch OLED screen," allowing it to switch between a curved mode that focuses on immersion and laying flat for television shows and movies.

The LG OLED Flex has a 4K 120Hz display. It features HDMI 2.1 and supports variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode. It also works with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync.

When curved, the LG OLED Flex has a 900R curvature. Its screen has a 0.1 millisecond response time and is 100 percent color fidelity certified. In addition to bending between flat and curved modes, the LG OLED Flex can tilt up to 10 degrees toward a user and up to 5 degrees away from a user.

While the LG OLED Flex is a television, its ability to curve makes it a viable gaming monitor. A 42-inch display is a bit large for some desks, so the screen can swap to either 32 inches or 27 inches. Certain types of games will take better advantage of more screen real estate as well. For example, a real-time strategy game would probably be best spanning across all 42 inches of the screen, while a first-person shooter may look better on a smaller display.

LG Multi View mode support allows up to two sources to run on the LG OLED Flex side-by-side. For example, the monitor could have an Xbox Series X and a gaming PC plugged in as sources for easy switching.

Pricing information for the LG OLED Flex isn't available at this time. LG has not shared a planned release date for the television either.

LG isn't the only company to announce a folding screen. Corsair showed off the Xeneon Flex 45WQHD240 earlier this month. That monitor features a 45-inch bendable LG OLED panel.

LG just announced a world's first ahead of IFA, which kicks off in Berlin next month. The company unveiled the UltraGear OLED gaming monitor (45GR95QE) featuring the “first curved OLED display with a 240Hz refresh rate,” according to LG. The screen stands out because OLED displays have previously maxed out at 120Hz. Pricing and a release date for the new monitor haven't been shared, but LG plans to show off the UltraGear OLED gaming monitor at IFA.

The new ultrawide gaming monitor has a 21:9 aspect ratio and a WQHD resolution (3,440 x 1,440). The 45-inch display has an 800R curvature as well to increase immersion. The 240Hz refresh rate and 0.1 gray-to-gray response time should make the best PC games appear smooth, assuming you have a system that can drive titles at such high rates.

The screen of the UltraGear gaming monitor has LG's Anti-glare & Low Reflection coating as well.

LG will also show off its UltraFine Display Ergo AI monitor at IFA 2022. That device can automatically adjust its position to improve ergonomics. It uses built-in cameras and AI to change the screen height and tilt of the display. The LG UltraFine Display Ergo AI has a 31.5-inch 4K IS display with 95% coverage of DCI-P3.

Gaming monitors range from meh to insane, and this LG 34-inch UltraGear Curved (34GP83A-B) sits nicely right in the middle. You get a large 34-inch 21:9 screen with a solid 3440x1440 (QHD) resolution making your games pop with detail.

Why get an ultrawide monitor when you can get an ultra-tall monitor? That's the question LG answers with its new DualUp monitor. The unique 28-inch display features a 16:18 aspect ratio. For those keeping score at home, that means the DualUp is essentially two 21.5-inch screens stacked on top of each other, assuming those hypothetical displays had 16:9 aspect ratios.

LG announced the DualUp back at CES 2022, but it is now available for purchase for $700.

While Windows 11 and other operating systems support snapping and organizing app windows, it may be more convenient to have a PC treat the DualUp as if it were two separate displays. This is possible with picture-in-picture mode. You can use the DualUp as two screens for a single PC or input two PCs into it with each going to one display.

Whether used as a single tall display or two separate screens, the DualUp monitor has a total resolution of 2560 x 2880. That's known as Square Double QHD or SDQHD, according to LG. The DualUp has a Nano IPS panel that covers 98% of DCI-P3. The screen also supports HDR10 for color accuracy and has a contrast ratio of 1000:1.

The DualUp has an LG Ergo stand for maneuverability, which should come in handy since the monitor has a unique shape. The stand can tilt, swivel, and move forward and back.

On the connectivity side of things, LG's new monitor supports USB Type-C with up to 90W power delivery. It has USB hub functionality as well, allowing it to work with HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB 3.0.

The LG 27GL83A-B 27-inch gaming monitor has dropped to $279.99 at Amazon. This is a monitor that has sold for as high as $380 and has been selling for around $370 since February, the last time we saw it go this low. The drop to $280 is one we have only seen in the new year, and it usually does not last long. The same monitor is going for $350 or more at other retailers like Best Buy, so take advantage of Amazon's great deal while it lasts.

This is my personal recommendation for the best "bang for your buck" gaming monitor. You get all the stats a gamer should love, including a 144Hz refresh rate, a 1ms response time, and 1440p pixel resolution. Plus it uses an IPS panel while still getting that response time, which means you get great viewing angles and color accuracy.

While the monitor has native AMD FreeSync, it is also Nvidia G-Sync compatible. Just connect via DisplayPort to use the G-Sync, which is what you'll need to use to get up to 144Hz refresh rate anyway. It works great.

The monitor has a very adjustable stand, but it also uses the VESA 100 x 100mm standard. That means you can just attach it to a wall or arm mount instead and forego the stand altogether. With the virtually borderless design, these monitors look good stacked next to each other. I use this mounting arm with two of the screens for my personal build.

The LG Ultragear 27GP750-B 27-inch gaming monitor has dropped to a ridiculously low price of $179.99 at Amazon. The street price for this display is $300, and it has never dropped below $250 through Amazon before. Today's sale is unique and probably won't last long. It's still going for as much as $500 in some places, if you can even find it.

If you start with a baseline of specs that includes something like 1080p resolution, a 60Hz refresh rate, and a response time around 3-5ms, then getting better in any of those categories usually means a steep increase in price. If you want to greatly improve one of those, then trying to improve them all just makes the price jump exponentially. So if you live in a world where the best possible refresh rate is key to you, but you also don't have the budget for extreme price jumps, then you need a little compromise. That's what this monitor does. It gives you a 240Hz refresh rate, which is nuts, but keeps the resolution at 1080p. That's an acceptable change if you're into twitchy games, fast-paced shooters, battle royales, and competitive play because that 240Hz is going to mean a lot more to you than the resolution.

That crazy 240Hz refresh rate is great, but it's not the only feature either. The monitor uses an IPS panel and manages a 1ms response time, which is impressive as historically IPS panels have had trouble with that. The screen also has adaptive sync with AMD FreeSync Premium natively. It is Nvidia G-Sync compatible as well.

LG just announced new versions of its gram 16 and gram 17 laptops. The devices feature 12th Gen Intel Core processors and optional NVIDIA RTX 2050 graphics. LG promises 70% speed improvements over the previous generation when comparing Intel Core i7 models. The new gram laptops also have PCIe 4.0 SSDs, which are 22% faster than their predecessors (via GSMArena).

The new LG gram 16 and LG gram 17 will be available in April 2022 in South Korea. The gram 16 starts at KRW 2.29 million (roughly $1,882), while the gram 17 starts at KRW 2.39 million (roughly $1,964). LG did not specify if or when the new grams would ship to the United States or other regions.

While the jump from 11th Gen to 12th Gen Intel graphics will bring a performance boost, the bigger news is the option to have RTX 2050 graphics in either of the gram laptops. Previous generations of the gram only had Intel Iris Xe graphics, which are fine for day-to-day productivity but struggle with heavier workloads.

The bumped-up specs should allow creators to use the new gram 16 and 17 for photo editing and some video editing, depending on specific workloads. RAM options go up to 32GB of LPDDR5 or you can opt for just 8GB of memory.

Both new LG gram laptops have 16:10 aspect ratios with 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. They're IPS displays that cover 99% DCI-P3.

Preorders for the new grams start on April 11, 2022 and end on April 22, 2022. If you preorder one of the laptops in that timeframe, you'll get a gram+view portable monitor, a gram mouse, and some other bonus items.

If you're looking to upgrade from 1080p or to something with a higher refresh rate for gaming, today's your day. LG's 27GL850-B 27-inch 1440p gaming monitor has dropped to just $346.99 at Amazon. This price matches its low, and it's a price it has usually only dropped to during big sales events or the holiday shopping season. The monitor sells for around $400 usually and has jumped as high as $480 recently. Avoid those high marks and grab it while it's down this low because we're sure it won't last long at this price.

This is just a great monitor for gamers. Its specifications are exactly what you want without costing too much. The display includes a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and a 1 ms response time thanks to the Nano IPS technology in its IPS panel. Normally IPS panels don't have response times that fast, but thinks have changed recently in the monitor world and IPS panels have improved much. At the time of this monitor's release it was called one of the fastest response times ever for similar panels.

You also get adaptive sync tech with this monitor, which helps reduce motion blur while gaming as long as you have the right graphics card. Natively it has AMD FreeSync, which is great if you use an AMD graphics card. It is also Nvidia G-Sync compatible. If you're using a Nvidia graphics card from the 20xx series or later, you can connect via the DIsplayPort on the back to get G-Sync working and help you reduce screen tearing. The DisplayPort connection is ideal either way because that's how you get the 144Hz refresh rate.

It comes with an ultra-thin bezel and a stand that is tilt, height, and pivot adjustable. You can also forego the stand for a wall or arm mount with the Vesa 100 x 100mm standard.

Here's your chance to grab LG's 27GN750-B UltraGear gaming monitor down to a low price of $276.99 at Amazon. While this price is not quite as low as it was on Black Friday, it's only a few bucks more. That's some big savings considering how high it jumped up after the holiday shopping season, including a brief jump as high as $397. The monitor's more regular street price is around $316 or so, so you're realistically saving about $40 today. You can find it going this low at a couple of different retailers, too, like Newegg.

This is a gaming monitor, and it should absolutely appeal to gamers who play shooters like Call of Duty or Halo Infinite and want a really high refresh rate. That 240Hz refresh rate is way above the average (which is usually 60Hz) and even far above the "ideal" spec most gamers look for of 144Hz. Despite that extra feature, the monitor still maintains a wonderful 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a super fast 1ms response time. It also has an IPS panel, which means you'll get great color accuracy and strong viewing angles.

There are plenty of other features, too. It has AMD FreeSync natively, which works with your AMD graphics card to reduce screen tearing in fast-paced games and movies. Of course it's also Nvidia G-Sync compatible, which means it will work with Nvidia graphics cards from the 10xx series or later to do the same thing. It is also HDR10 compatible for HDR support, which will help enhance image quality.

Extras include an adjustable stand, a borderless design, and a USB hub that includes two USB 3.0 ports in addition to HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity.

The LG 32UN500-W 4K monitor is on sale at Amazon for just $296.99. That's a $50 drop off its normal price and matches what we saw it going for during Black Friday. It has hit this price a couple of times over the last few months, and it has sold out completely every time. If it's still in stock, just know that you're running out of time. You can also find it going for a similar price over at Best Buy where it is $299.99.

Sometimes, the only thing you need is pixels. Lots and lots of pixels. All the pixels. Well, here you go. This 32-inch screen is jam-packed with 3840 x 2160 pixels. That's 4K resolution on a 32-inch screen. The only problem with 4K in general is that other specifications tend to suffer a bit because bumping all of them would cost too much. So while you do have a 4K resolution, you only have a 60Hz refresh rate and a 4ms response time. Neither of which is bad, just standard. If you're looking for a great video gaming monitor, you probably want something with a 144Hz refresh rate or higher and a 1ms response time or lower.

So this won't be your new gaming screen, but it will still look amazing, especially considering the cost. That would mean this is a great monitor for consuming media. If you want to watch movies or stream your favorite content creators, you might as well do it in 4K. It also has HDR10 support so you get the highest image quality possible through HDR content as well.

Other features include AMD FreeSync to help reduce screen tearing when paired with an AMD graphics card, built-in speakers with stereo sound and 5W power output, and a virtually borderless design which helps with immersion.

LG"s 27-inch 1440p 165Hz Ultragear gaming monitor has dropped to just $396.99 at Amazon. You can also find it going for this price at a couple of other retailers like B&H. It is a unique deal price and the lowest we have ever seen. This monitor normally goes for just under $500, and even when it has gone on sale has only dropped to around $450. This is a Black Friday price if ever there was one, so if you're interested pick it up now because it could just sell out at this low of a price.

LG has a lot of great monitors, but this is one of the newest generation. It only released earlier this year, so you're getting the most recent tech built into it. That includes LG's Nano IPS display, which manages to squeeze the most of the monitor without sacrificing on response times or color accuracy as IPS panels tend to do.

What you end up with is a 27-inch screen with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and a 1ms response time. The screen looks great, and that refresh rate is way above average. You'll really see the difference if you play a lot of shooters like Call of Duty: Vanguard or Halo Infinite.

The screen has adaptive sync technology built in with AMD FreeSync Premium natively. It is also Nvidia G-Sync compatible. So whether you use an AMD graphics card or a Nvidia graphics card, you can reduce screen tearing during high octane moments. You'll just need to make sure you have a Nvidia graphics card from the 20xx series or later if you want that to work, and you'll want to use a DisplayPort connection. You should be doing that anyway because it's the best way to get that high 165Hz refresh rate.

In addition to the DisplayPort connection and the two HDMI ports in the back, the monitor also has a USB 3.0 hub with two USB-A ports.
