Take-Two Interactive has reported that Grand Theft Auto V, from its Rockstar Studios team, has now shipped 65 million copies since it launched in September 2013 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

The new sales milestone for GTA V was revealed as part of Take-Two's quarterly financial results by CEO Strauss Zelnick during a conference call on Wednesday. By comparison, Take-Two said that GTA V had shipped 60 million copies in its last fiscal quarter, and 52 million copies in the same period a year ago.

The continued high sales for the open-world crime action game are remarkable for a title that has been on the market for so long. After its September 2013 launch on the Xbox One and PS3, it released versions for the current Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles in November 2014, followed by its PC launch in April 2015.

Take-Two is still tightlipped on what Rockstar is developing next, but it did state Wednesday that the studio is "hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon."
