Kickstarter campaign for NuAns NEO ends short of its fundraising goal

The Kickstarter campaign to help bring the Japan-based NuAns NEO phone with Windows 10 Mobile to everyone else in the world has officially ended, and it did not make its set fundraising goal of $725,000.

In the end, the campaign managed to raise $142,368 from 489 backers, which did not approach the minimum goal. NuAns was hoping to expand the reach of the NEO to other parts of the world, with its unique TWOTONE cover design that offers 64 different combinations. The hardware inside the NEO is also pretty impressive with a 5-inch 1280x720 display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It also supports Windows 10 Mobile's Continuum feature so it can work like a PC when connected to a monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The company was asking Kickstarter backers to pledge $270 or more to get one NuAns NEO, along with either a TWOTONE or a FLIP cover. However, even with its cool looks and solid hardware, not enough backers decided to take the plunge. In the comments section of its Kickstarter page, NuAns indicated they do have some other plans to offer the NEO worldwide, and that they will reveal more details in the future.
