Lenovo's 25th anniversary ThinkPad leaks with classic design touches

The very first ThinkPad was released 25 years ago in 1992, and it looks like Lenovo has something special up its sleeve to mark the occasion. The folks at German blog WinFuture.de have gotten their hands on leaked images and specs for the appropriately named Lenovo ThinkPad 25, which looks to bundle some classic design elements from the series into a modern laptop.

The design is actually strikingly similar to a retro ThinkPad concept proposed by Lenovo's David Hill in 2015. Most striking is the multi-colored ThinkPad logo, but the blue Enter key certainly stands out as well. And, of course, while it's still present on modern ThinkPad's as well, the line's signature TrackPoint is there as well. All of that is complemented by more modern additions like a fingerprint reader, a Windows Hello-enabled camera, and a USB-C port.

In terms of specs, WinFuture notes that the ThinkPad 25 will come equipped with a 14-inch 1080p IPS display. On the inside, the laptop is expected to pack an Intel Core i7-7500U, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. An NVIDIA 940MX discrete GPU is also said to be on board, as is LTE support. In terms of ports, there's plenty to look forward to here as well, with USB-C (with Thunderbolt 3 support), HDMI, three USB 3.0 ports, and SD card reader, and ethernet.

There's no word on when we should expect Lenovo to officially debut the anniversary laptop. That said, there are only so many days left in 2017, so it shouldn't be too far off now.
