Metro Exodus is an apocalyptic first-person shooter which has garnered a lot of interest in recent months. The game is a sequel to Metro: Last Light which was ported from Xbox 360 to Xbox One a few years ago. Ever since the title was announced at E3 2017, gamers have been asking 4A Games to reveal proper gameplay footage. Luckily, the developer obliged at E3 2018.
The extended gameplay footage showcases the various environments you'll traverse in your quest to head east. There's snow, dank tunnels, and a lot of nighttime shooting. Plus, you can also customize your weapons. This is just the tip of the iceberg because Metro Exodus is shaping up to be quite an expansive experience. The game takes place in massive S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-like open areas.
The B-roll assets used for the video on this page come directly from the PC version operating at 4K resolution, 60 FPS. I played on Xbox One X though, finding that the visuals are remarkably similar, with the same native ultra HD resolution.
Years after nuclear war devastated Earth, a few survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow. They have struggled against the lethal elements, fought mutated beasts, encountered paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war. Now, in Metro Exodus, they must flee the underground tunnels and lead a band of "Spartan Rangers" on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East.
