Metroidvania-like 'Dead Cells' up for preorder on Xbox One

Dead Cells is finally available for digital preorder on Xbox One. Unlike the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 versions, it doesn't seems like the game is getting a physical release on Microsoft's console. Dead Cells is somewhat of a sensation on PC because it passed 600,000 sales on Steam Early Access alone, which could translate to success on consoles as well.

Not only does Dead Cells feature gorgeous pixelated visuals, but it's also a joy to play on Steam. The PC version features tight controls, so hopefully, they'll make the jump to Xbox One.

In a statement issued to the press, Motion Twin Producer Steve Fliby said the following about the console release.

We're thrilled to... be bringing the Dead Cells experience to console players. We're proud of what we've done with the help of the PC community and can't wait to see how the gaming community at large react.

Dead Cells is a rogue-lite, Metroidvania-like action-platformer. You'll explore a sprawling, ever-changing castle assuming you're able to fight your way past its keepers in 2D souls-lite combat. It's rather hardcore as there are no checkpoints. The objective is to kill, die a lot, learn from your mistakes, and repeat until you've conquered everything.

Dead Cells will cost $24.99, but if you preorder it you can get it at the discounted price of $19.99. The game should launch on August 7, 2018.
