Microsoft's Windows Phone leader Joe Belfiore has confirmed that the company plans to issue new updates this week to people who have smartphones with the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview build, and offered a little more information on what will be contained in those updates.

In a post on his Twitter account, Belfiore stated, "Everyone asking-- we're hoping to push some updates to Dev Preview this week, addressing storage install probs, HTC support, Cyan ramp-up." The HTC mention refers to the current block in place for those with HTC Windows Phones, including the HTC One. Other lingering issues refer to the general BitLocker block for those wanting the Lumia Cyan update and the 0x80188308 error when attempting to install an update.

In a similar message from Microsoft's support forums, a forum moderator posted that "The fix is near guys, and we appreciate your continued patience. Be expecting some additional communication over the next few days. Thanks for holding tight! We're almost there."

Previous reports claim that the older HTC 8X from Verizon could get updated over the air to Windows Phone 8.1 in late October and the Sprint version could follow in November.

If you have downloaded the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview, are you looking forward to possibly getting a new update this week?
