Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL

Microsoft's latest Lumia handsets — the Lumia 640 and the Lumia 640 XL — are now available for pre-order from the Microsoft Store in the UK. The Lumia 640 carries a price of £169.99 ($251), while the Lumia 640 XL is listed for £219.99 ($325).

Release date is mentioned as April 28 for the Lumia 640 XL, with four color variants — white, black, cyan and orange — available to choose. The Lumia 640 is set to launch on April 7, with the orange and black models available to pre-order. Both handsets offer LTE connectivity in the UK, and come with the Lumia Denim firmware update out of the box.

The Lumia 640 offers a 5-inch 720p display coated with Gorilla Glass 3, quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, microSD card slot, 8MP camera at the back, 1MP shooter up front, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,500mAh battery.

The larger Lumia 640 XL boasts a 5.7-inch 720p display with ClearBlack technology, and the same Snapdragon 400 SoC as the Lumia 640. What's different is the 13MP camera as well as the 5MP front camera for selfies. Other specs include 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, microSD slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 3,000mAh battery.
