Microsoft has rolled out an update for Mail and Calendar apps on Windows 10, for those on the Fast Ring. It's worth noting that should you not be part of the Windows Insider program, this latest batch of releases will not be available to you. That said, you can still learn what's new and what will be coming to your Windows 10-powered PC and mobile device soon.

Microsoft has included a full changelog of improvements added in the latest releases:

  • Open email messages in a new window
  • Use Quick Actions directly from new email notifications
  • Get someone's attention with @mentions. Type the @ symbol anywhere in the body of your email and start typing to pick the person you want to address

Interestingly, social media is becoming more and more like email, and email is now becoming more and more like social media-based messaging. You'll now be able to get someone's attention with a new @mention system. The other two additions, opening emails in a new window and utilize quick actions from email notifications, are also handy improvements.

Want to get involved and help shape the future of Mail and Calendar? You can get started by joining the Windows Insider program.
