What you need to know

  • Microsoft is testing new features for its Your Phone app with Insiders.
  • A Contacts feature is in preview that allows Insiders to access their contacts from Windows 10.
  • A "Sent from phone" feature is also in the works.

Microsoft recently rolled out new features for the Your Phone app to Insiders. Aggiornamenti Lumia spotted the features in action and shared some insight regarding what they'll be able to do. Currently, some Insiders can see a Contacts section and a "Sent from phone" section in preview.

A Contacts section now appears in preview for some Insiders. This feature will allow you to look through the contact list from your smartphone from the Your Phone app on Windows 10. This should make calling and messaging people from a Windows 10 PC easier. According to Aggiornamenti Lumia, Microsoft has worked on this feature since February. The Contacts section was initially spotted back in August.

Some Insiders also see a new "Sent from phone" section on the Your Phone app. At the moment, the feature doesn't seem to do that much, but Aggiornamenti Lumia reports that it will become a history of items sent from the web browser, notes, and photos shared from your smartphone.

Microsoft continues to expand the functionality of its Your Phone app. As it grows, it's reached a point where some people can leave their phone in their pocket. Some Your Phone features are restricted to supported Samsung phones, but these new features don't appear to be limited to specific phone models.
