Back to the Future

In case you have been away from the Internet for the past few months, today is getting some extra attention from pop culture fans. October 21, 2015 is the date that Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to from 1985 in their time-travelling Delorean in Back to the Future II. Microsoft is using the date to have some fun on its US website via an Easter egg that also helps to promote its current and upcoming hardware devices.

Keep in mind that the Easter egg will only work on Microsoft's US site. If you simply type "OUTATIME" while the browser is on the main home page, it should show off a quick, and familiar, animation before going to a page that shows how technology has really changed from 1985 to 2015. It's a clever way to promote Microsoft devices like the Xbox One, its Lumia smartphones, and upcoming products like the Microsoft Band 2, the Surface Book and the Microsoft HoloLens headset.

The page lets people see all these devices side-by-side with their 1985 counterparts. It even lets users view the page in old-fashioned red and blue 32 glasses, which is definitely heavy.
