Minecraft nets a sizable update on consoles, 2 new DLC packs

Minecraft players on consoles are in for a treat with the game's latest feature update. Now rolling out to Xbox and PlayStation, with the Switch and Wii U versions following later today, the new update packs in a new UI engine, Llamas, Illagers, and much more.

Here's a look at the full list of new features packed into the latest update for consoles:

  • 7 new Achievements/Trophies
  • New UI engine (saving significant memory - which should boost performance!)
  • Llamas
  • Parrots
  • Woodland Mansion
  • Treasure Maps
  • Observer Block
  • Totem of Undying
  • Illagers! Vindicator, Vex and Evoker!
  • 'Bouncy' Beds
  • Dyeable beds
  • Option to change Biomes size to match other platforms (since they are smaller on console by default)

In addition, two new DLC packs are now available for console players. The first is called the "Giants Glide track pack", which includes three new Glide challenges littered with giant furniture, mobs and more. Meanwhile, the "Mini Game Heroes super skin pack", which includes themed skins for competitive team players.

This update comes ahead of the "Better Together" update, which will allow Minecraft players across consoles (except PS4), mobile and PCs play together. That is expected to land later this year.
