MSN Weather on Xbox

MSN Weather is a Universal Windows Platform app designed to run on Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile, HoloLens, and now Xbox One.

The app provides rich data on the weather in your area. You can also add favorite locations which synchronize across all your devices via your Microsoft Account and compare current weather data with historical averages.

The app launched this evening in the US. We haven't been able to test it for other regions at this time, but you should be able to find it by going to the Xbox Store and searching for "Weather." If you can't find it outside of the US, you should be able to get it simply by switching region via the Settings menu. Note that your Xbox needs to be enrolled in the Xbox One Preview to access it.

MSN Weather is among the first UWP apps to hit the console, and we've already begun seeing signs that other developers, both large and small, are looking to bring their apps to Xbox One. Groove Music is on the way, as is an updated Netflix, Cast podcasting app, and many, many more.

UWP opens up a world of opportunity on Xbox One for developers who can finally send their Windows 10 apps directly to TVs in the living room. As a single, integrated platform, Microsoft hopes that UWP will bring apps traditionally unavailable to Windows 10 Mobile, such as an official YouTube app. We can only hope!

If you get the chance to download MSN Weather on the latest Xbox One update, let us know your thoughts in the comments!
