Philips launches new 49-inch ultrawide Brilliance PC monitor for creators

Philips announced the new 49-inch 499P9H Brilliance ultrawide display for creators with an aspect ratio of 32:9. The display also comes rocking some other handy features, like a Quad HD (1440p) resolution, solid color reproduction, USB Type-C docking, built-in webcam, and HDR 400 support.

What makes this display impressive to gaze at is the sheer size of the unit. It's huge. The 1800r curved panel attempts to mirror the natural shape of your eye and vision, allowing content displayed on-screen to wrap around. The 499P9H from Philips clearly targets users who enjoy larger workspaces offered by smaller displays.

You can imagine this display being the same size as two 1440p displays sat side-by-side, resulting in a total resolution of 5120x1440. You' could even game on this panel, though you may find your GPU struggling to keep up with the demand for more pixels to be rendered — Games like Elite Dangerous would look epic.

Not only do we have VESA HDR 400 certification here, but also a handy USB 3.1 Type-C docking station for professionals with portable devices. Simply plug in your laptop and you'll be good to go, complete with power delivery to keep the PC topped up on charge. But that's not all, this display even comes with an Ethernet port for secured connections. And — of course — the pop-up webcam supports Windows Hello.

The Philips 499P9H is available for £989 (around $1,300).
