PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) getting third map in first half of 2018

Blockbuster battle royale title PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is set to get an additional map within the first half of the year. In a brief update posted to Steam (via Eurogamer), PUBG developer Bluehol shared that it plans to lay out a roadmap of updates in March, but it rounded things out by hinting at plans for a third map in the first half of 2018.

According to Bluehole, some of the major features in its development pipeline have had to be delayed in recent months while the developer focuses on combating cheaters. A look at PUBG's roadmap for 2018 also had to be pushed back for "other reasons." From Bluehole:

We would like to ask for our players' generous understanding that despite the team's eagerness to share what we have been planning and working on, the timing had to be changed. We do have a lot of exciting things that we want to share with you, including new content to provide more extensive battle royale experiences as well as improvements and modifications to create a deeper and more realistic gameplay. In March, the team will reveal what you can expect from us in the first half of 2018 in terms of our development and new content plans which, by the way, include a new map.

While the developer didn't have anything else to share regarding the upcoming map, it has previously teased that it will be set around the Adriatic Sea. The third map would come in addition to the games current duo, set in Russia and Central America, respectively.

The map update comes alongside a test server patch that brings a number of bug fixes and small gameplay tweaks. You can find the full list in the patch notes available on Steam.
