State of Decay 2 to be fully unveiled at E3 2017

State of Decay was a blockbuster Xbox Live Arcade title from the Xbox 360 era. The ambitious, but humble title tasked players with the management of a community of survivors in an open world zombie apocalypse. Scavenging for food, ammo, and other supplies formed the basis of gameplay, as you battled it out with hordes of walking undead, mutants, and the occasional group of rogue survivors.

Undead Labs are working with Microsoft Studios on State of Decay 2, which will deliver 4-player co-op and various other improvements. We'll have to wait until E3 2017 to find out exactly what those improvements will be, however!

In an update on the Undead Labs blog, founder Jeff Strain offered an update on the state of the game, noting that 2017 will be a huge year for State of Decay fans.

"Plenty of people have asked us to give the community the gift of the SOD2 release date. We can't do that just yet, but here's what we can tell you: The release date will be revealed, along with gameplay, systems, and so much more, at E3 2017. So pace yourselves, mark your calendars, and get ready to party with us this June."

E3 2017 kicks off on June 13th in Los Angeles, where State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, Scalebound, and Project Scorpio are set to take center stage. Microsoft no doubt has more tricks up its sleeve in the ever-marching console war with Sony's PlayStation. We'll just have to wait and see!
