Surface hardware and accessories now on sale in the Microsoft Store app

Along with the launch of a new Windows 10 Insider build today, Microsoft also quietly announced that you can now shop for Surface hardware in the Microsoft Store app on your PC. The experience is open to those running Microsoft Store version 11709.1001.7 or newer, but it's currently only available in the U.S., UK and Australia.

Available from a dedicated landing page, you can browse for Surface Hardware like the Surface Pro and Surface Studio, as well as accessories like the Surface Pen. Clicking on a particular option will take you to a second page where you can configure your chosen Surface and order it, just as the process works on the Microsoft Store website.

Surface - MS Store

It makes sense that Microsoft would expand the Store app to include its own Surface hardware, but it will be interesting to see if this expands to support purchasing hardware from other manufacturers that is available via the Microsoft Store as well.

If you're in the U.S., UK or Australia, you can check out the dedicated Surface page in Microsoft Store version 11709.1001.7 now. Other regions will be included soon, Microsoft says. Insiders can also complete a quest related to the new section as well.
