USA Today is arguably one of the best news apps on Windows Phone in terms of design and speed. It’s so minimal in its layout that it makes Microsoft blush and the fast loading  times of the app and related articles is nearly unprecedented.

There’s just one problem though: the app has had quite a few bugs since the last release, causing images and even articles to load incompletely. Frustrating users, many have complained in the app’s review on the Store that an update is required.

Following on from our mostly successful launch of v3.8/9 of the Windows Phone Central app, there are a few loose ends to tie up in the code, thus we present the next update, v3.10 for Windows Phone 7 and v3.11 for Windows Phone 8. After a few problems with the store, everything looks to be resolved.

Whilst we're afraid we can't promise any exciting new features, we have resolved several problems, some of which we know were frustrating our community a little! You can pick up the update here in the store (either the free version or paid) or see below for the full changelist, and please consider voting for the app in Microsoft's next app star competition.

Draw Something, Zynga's social doodling phenomenon, has been updated to version 1.0.13. This latest patch comes without a change log, but based on recent grumbling and poor reviews on its download page, it's likely that it resolves stability issues with the popular game. There's been a slew of reports of the game freezing and being over all buggy.

If you have the free, ad-supported version of Draw Something offered to Nokia Lumia owners, then this update is not for you. Only the pay-to-play version found in the Windows Phone Store is affected.

A short time ago, we took a quick look at the Windows Phone app Time Sync. Time Sync is a world time app that helps you keep track of the current time in various parts of the world. As more Windows Phone users began to give the time app a try, a few stability issues were identified that caused Time Sync to crash.

Time Sync's developer picked up on the issues, in part from your comments, and began working on an update that has recently passed certification. Version 1.1 takes care of the bugs that caused the app to crash. It also adds a City list reorder feature. This new feature allows you to sort the cities you monitor to your liking.

Can it be improved? Yes it can.

If you’re a regular reader (and listener) of this site you know by now that myself and fellow camera-enthusiast George Ponder have been…harsh…on the AT&T Nokia Lumia 900’s camera.  We rated it as one of the worst we’ve used in quite some time (though not as bad as Dell’s) and it often prevents us from using the phone as our daily driver. The Titan II though easily blows us away.

We’ve staked our position that it’s the hardware that is the problem on the 900 and while we still believe that to be the case it does appear Nokia has finally figured out how to best optimize its software. Of course we’re talking about the un-released Tango OS and firmware update which we detailed yesterday.

For the last 24 hours we’ve been pouring over the camera, snapping pictures in different environments and we have come to this conclusion: this update dramatically fixes the Lumia 900’s camera…

SuperTube v2.2 fixes recording bug

SuperTube, the powerhouse YouTube application, was updated to support Mango earlier in November, adding a plethora of cool features.  However, even at the time of release, the developers acknowledged that there was a bug related to the recording and uploading feature.  Now, SuperTube has been updated to version 2.2, which fixes said bug.

In case you missed the news the first time, SuperTube for WP7.5 adds the following features:

  • Record videos and upload it to YouTube (Resume broken uploads support)
  • Choose and order the sections in the main page
  • Select channel to push notification
  • Add playlist, inbox, my video
  • Background uploads and downloads
  • Loading list more quickly
  • Inbox push notification
  • Fast App Switching (FAS)

The full version of SuperTube will run you a cool $1.29 in the Marketplace, or you can get the free ad-supported version here

Thanks to Fast Code for the heads up!

Back in May, editors of French website MonWindowsPhone compiled a list of complaints and bug reports from Samsung Omnia 7 users on their forums.  The issues ranged from error messages, to battery life, to minor annoyances.  MonWindowsPhone then drafted a letter including over 100 things that they would like to see fixed and sent it to Samsung France.

Samsung responded in July, saying that they were taking action based on the reports of the user community.  Now MonWindowsPhone is reporting that a software update is due out in a few weeks that will address many of those issues.  The update will also help prepare the device to be upgraded to Mango.

Here's to community action and companies that listen!

Shortly after last week's release of Evernote for WP7, users began reporting a bug that caused their phone screen to turn white and freeze up.  A workaround surfaced nearly as quickly, but now it is a moot point.  Evernote version 1.1 has arrived and it fixes the so-called white screen of death error.  Props for a speedy patch!

Current users can check for updates and new users can download here.
