Yesterday’s delisting of Turn N Run – literally the night before our review went live, and only six days after the game’s release – highlights a large and ongoing problem in the world of Xbox Windows Phone games. Since the debut of Windows Phone 8, incompatibility with the new OS has been discovered among a number of Xbox WP7 titles. Each of these games has been completely delisted from the web version of the Windows Phone Store, and either partially or fully removed from Store searches on actual Windows Phones.

Read on to learn what games have been affected so far, and how Microsoft may be mishandling the Windows Phone 8 incompatibility issues in more ways than one.

Fable Coin Golf and Tetris get Mango updates

We’ve been bombarded by a slew of Xbox Live updates this week. Some, like Gravity Guy’s, are quite significant. Others just add Fast App Switching support, which still ain't half bad!

Fable Coin Golf: Straight from the mouths of our friends at Microsoft, Fast App Switching support is the only new feature of the version 1.1 update. Still, that should make using the Achievement Guide much more convenient.

Tetris: The only change I’ve discovered is Fast App Switching support. It’s been tough finding anyone involved with the Windows Phone Tetris port – be sure to chime in if you know anybody.

Both Fable Coin Golf (review) and Tetris (review) cost $4.99. You’ll find them here and here on the Marketplace.

The annual Xbox Live sale (aka The Countdown to 2012 Campaign) is now live. On Xbox 360, a variety of Xbox Live Arcade games and avatar items are on sale. But Windows Phone gamers haven’t been entirely left out of the festivities, as three mobile Xbox Live games just went on sale as well.

The sale games:

Naturally I already own them all (jeez my phone is drowning in games). Still need to go back and finish off Fable Coin Golf, but the others are in the bag. Will you guys be picking any of these titles up, and how do you like them?

The Countdown to 2012 Campaign runs from December 20, 2011 to January 2, 2012. May these cheap games help keep you warm during the holidays.

Not the official Microsoft image, but it should be

Black Friday and Christmas holiday sales are regular yearly occurrences on Xbox 360, which means we’re about due for another sale. This year, the Countdown to 2012 Campaign begins on Tuesday, December 20 and lasts until Monday, January 2. Every day during that time, one or more pieces of content (XBLA games, avatar items, etc.) will go on sale.

Xbox 360 sales are great, but what about Windows Phone? Yes, there will be mobile Xbox Live games on sale during the Countdown to 2012. Just like this year's Black Friday week sale, the Windows Phone sale will include three games (in addition to the standard Deal of the Week game). The holiday sale games include Fruit Ninja, Fable: Coin Golf and Hydro Thunder Go. All three are great titles that any mobile gamer would be happy to own.

The Countdown to 2012 Campaign runs from December 20, 2011 to January 2, 2012. We’ll let you know as soon as the sale goes live.

If you’ve resisted picking up Fable Coin Golf until now, it’ll be especially hard to hold out this week. The Windows Phone-exclusive Xbox Live game is on sale this week for $2.99, down from $4.99.

Fable Coin Golf (see review) comes from developer Ideaworks Game Studio, who have worked on a ton of excellent iPhone games. Loosely inspired by the Fable action-RPG series, Coin Golf is essentially a minigolf game set in a fantasy universe and with a nice silly story between levels. It features excellent friend leaderboards and mild connectivity with Fable III on Xbox 360 – money earned in the phone version transfers up to the console game. The connectivity isn’t as advanced as what we’ll see in Kinectimals, but it’s only natural that such features will improve as time goes on. Even if you don’t know your Fable from your Elder Scrolls (you unfortunate person), Coin Golf is plenty of fun on its own.

The sale lasts for one week only. You can pick up Fable Coin Golf here (Zune link) on the Marketplace.

First Look: Fable Coin Golf on Windows Phone 7

No word on when Fable Coin Golf will be available to download, but the idea of collecting gold in your spare time that you can actually use in-game on Fable III is pretty fly. The game itself looks clever - with lots of upgrades and tricks to keep it from being a boring mini-golf game. All those features apparently add a whole lot of load time, because as you can see above, the game spent its sweet time loading up.
