Photo Contests

The Nokia Lumia Challenge is a series of challenges by Nokia involving the Lumia line of Windows Phones.  Most of the challenges deal with photography, challenging Lumia owners to show off their camera skills.  The challenge covers a wide range of topics such as panoramas, night-time adventures, Cinemagraphs and the latest Lumia Challenge is Reflections.

Be it a reflection on water, in a window, from a mirror or any other reflective surface.  Much along the lines of the above photo by Abdul Abdurrab, one of our readers who won last week's challenge.

It's a natural fit for February's Windows Phone Photo Challenge theme to be "love".  With Valentine's Day right around the corner you are challenged to submit a photo that captures the emotion of love.

For those not familiar, Microsoft sponsors a "bragging rights" photo contest each month with a particular theme. Just snap a photo with your Windows Phone based on the theme and if you win Microsoft will share the photo on their Windows Phone Blog, in their newsletter, and share it on their Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest pages.

Microsoft has wrapped up its second monthly photo contest. The October contest theme was your favorite places and there were some really nice shots chosen as the winner.  Such as the photo above submitted by Geoffrey Gelb of the Eilean Donan Castle in Scotland.  Geoffrey shot the photo with his Samsung Focus.

There is no word on what the contest theme will be for next month but once we hear, we'll pass it on. In the meantime, if you're sharing photos via Twitter, use the hashtag #WPPhoto and Microsoft may highlight them on their official handle.

WPCentral's Photosynth Contest - your chance to win a Samsung Focus 2

Photosynth is a great Windows Phone app for capturing panoramic images and we want to see what you with the photography app. For motivation, we've got two Samsung Focus 2s to giveaway courtesy of AT&T.

Just go out and capture panorama images using Photosynth and post your best work here in the WPCentral discussion forums. You'll have until 5:00pm PST on Saturday, July 14th to submit your entries and from there, we'll pick the best two images to receive the AT&T Samsung Focus 2.

Now for the fine print.

  • Entries must be captured by Photosynth
  • Entries must be captured by a Windows Phone or iPhone
  • Only one entry per person
  • While you can edit the entry, do not crop the image (much like the sample above)

You'll need to register to participate and you can do that here. Once the entry period closes, we'll announce the winners as soon as we can. The last photo contest had so many fantastic entries it took a while to sort things out.

Good luck everyone and if you haven't installed Photosynth, it's a free app for your Windows Phone and you can find it here at the Windows Phone Marketplace.
