Stacks for Instapaper

There have been a number of updates pushed out recently. While none of the apps we've caught have received major upgrades, it's still worth noting exactly what's been bumped and what's included in the latest release. So which apps have received an update? For Windows Phone, we're looking at Flyby!, glƏƏk!, Stacks for Instapaper and Fantweestic for Windows 8.

Last week we covered the Stacks for Instapaper app for Windows 8, it’s safe to say we think it’s the best way to use Instapaper on your Windows 8 tablet right now. As part of that review we also did a sneak peak of the coming update to the Windows Phone 8 app. Today it has arrived.

The update essentially brings a host of improvements to the mobile app to bring it visually in line with the Windows 8 app while taking on some new features provided by Windows Phone 8.

Keeping up to date with things we want to read can be a constant challenge, thankfully there are services which allow you to save things for later. The premise is simple, notice something on the web that you want to read and you can save it to your reading list. One such service is Instapaper, it essentially allows for a stripped down mobile-friendly version of the article for reading later.Your reading list is stored in the cloud so can be easily accessed on your computer, smartphone and tablet.

Stacks for Instapaper has been around on Windows Phone for some time and consistently gets great reviews in the Windows Phone Store. Stacks is now available on Windows 8 and combined with an upcoming refresh of the phone app it might just make this the best Instapaper experience on both platforms. We review the Windows 8 version while taking a sneak peak at the coming update for the Windows Phone 8 app.

Stacks for Instapaper - App Spotlight

Stacks for Instapaper is being offered over at the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace for $2.99. Stacks is a Instapaper companion app for your Windows Phone that allows you to access your Instapaper account while on the go.

Instapaper is a popular web service that allows you to save web pages that you discover during the day but don't have time to read. The service saves these pages for later when you do have the time to take it all in.

Stacks allows subscribers to organize and read their bookmarks on their Windows Phone. Log in and view all your folders. Progress bars let you know what's left to read. Pick your favorite font and size, switch to Night Mode and multitask all you want: bookmarks reopen exactly where you left off!

You need a paid subscription to Instapaper to use this app. There is a free trial version available for Stacks and again, the full version runs $2.99. You can download the Windows Phone app here (opens Zune) at the Marketplace.
