Windows Phone Central Game Roundup: Games for all occasions

Windows Phone games are a great way to pass the time with. Whether it's waiting hours in the car tag line or just a few minutes before a class starts, there is a vast assortment of quality games available in the Windows Phone Store.  Some games are great for a quick gaming fix while others stand up to longer gaming sessiosn.

Then there's games that can cover all the bases, good for all occasions.  Entertaining for short bits and addictive enough to keep you entertained for more extended periods.

For this week's roundup, instead of picking three or four games, we focus on four developers/studios that have a respectable portfolio of Windows Phone games. Some of which that can hold their own for those short gaming sessions or the longer marathon sessions.  Along the way we'll spotlight a few of the titles offered by these developers and as always, if we've overlooked your favorite title feel free to sound off in the comments.

Practically everybody who games on Windows Phone 8 is either anxiously awaiting today’s release of Halo: Spartan Assault (carrier issues notwithstanding) or knee-deep in last week’s release of Order & Chaos Online (don’t miss our Beginner’s Guide!). But some players are still stuck on Windows Phone 7 or just won’t pay seven bucks for a game, and those poor souls need stuff to play too. Won’t the Xbox Red Stripe Deal of the Week come to their rescue?

Sure, I guess! This week’s Xbox sale game is a repeat as usual, having gone on sale back in October last year. geoDefense Swarm from Critical Thought Games is on sale for 99 cents, down from $2.99. The indie Red Stripe game deal is 10tons’ Tennis in the Face for $1.49. In the non-game zone we have a news reader app called Collector from Squallstar Studio, on sale for 99 cents.

Windows Phone Central Game Roundup: 10tons
Windows Phone Central Roundup: 10tons Games

10tons isn't new to mobile gaming development with successful titles over on the Android and iOS stores. Over the past few weeks (or has it been months) 10tons has released a handful of games for the Windows Phone 8 platform that should be just as successful.

This week's roundup focuses on a handful of 10tons' games from the action/adventure to the challenging puzzle games.  Each game is uniquely challenging, has great graphics and a very nice addition to the Windows Phone Store.  Hopefully, what we can find now in the Windows Phone Store is but the start of a beautiful relationship between 10tons and the Windows Phone platform.

Tennis in the Face is a fun, unique game for your Windows Phone 8 device. It's a tennis game but not in a traditional sense of things.

You play the role of Pete Pagassi in his quest to save the city from the evil grasp of Explodz. You travel around the city map smashing evil minions with tennis balls and exploding soda cans.

Graphics are great, game play challenging and Tennis in the Face is a nice addition to the Windows Phone gaming library.
