Surface 3

In July, Microsoft announced that unlocked versions of its 10.8-inch Surface 3 tablet with LTE hardware would be available "through Microsoft stores, authorized resellers and partner retailers in late August." Now the company has confirmed a slight delay in its release and that it willl be coming out on September 19 in the US.

Microsoft's updated Surface blog post stated:

"The unlocked variant of Surface 3 (4G LTE) will be released on September 19 in the US and Canada, and October 2 in France, Germany and United Kingdom. Customers can pre-order the device at Microsoft Stores in the US starting September 3 and September 10 in Canada."

At the moment, the only way a consumer can purchase a Surface 3 with LTE is with AT&T. The carrier is selling the 64GB model for $599 without a contract, but it's locked into AT&T's network. It's also available via a two-year contract for $499 or for $30 a month in a 20 month installment plan. T-Mobile is also selling the Surface 3 with LTE but only to its business customers.
