Battlefield Hardline servers are about to shut down, killing the game for everyone — and it's not the only Xbox title that's dying

Two games are shutting down their servers on Xbox this month, and it's always a shame when this happens (via Pure Xbox). More than anything, it makes me think that the Stop Killing Games campaign really needs to succeed. As things stand, the signs look positive there, which is good news for gamers.

Before we get into that, let's take a look at the games being shut down.

Pinball FX (June 1, 2026) - Xbox One support ending
Pinball M (June 1, 2026) - Xbox One support ending
Rec Room (June 8, 2026) - Server shutdown
Battlefield Hardline (June 22, 2026) - Server shutdown
Call of Duty: Warzone (June 25, 2026) - Xbox One store removal
The Elder Scrolls: Blades (June 30, 2026) - Server shutdown
Madden NFL 23 (July 2026) - Server shutdown
DiRT Rally 2.0 (July 2026) - Partial service shutdown
New World: Aeternum (July 2026) - Partial service shutdown

We've previously covered Battlefield Hardline's server shutdown 11 years after its release. That said, as you can see from the list above, quite a few games are either losing online functionality or seeing support scaled back. Some are having their servers shut down entirely, while others are simply being left behind on Xbox One, which is the case for Call of Duty: Warzone (RIP).

I always think it's a shame when game servers are shut down. As I mentioned, it immediately makes me think of the Stop Killing Games campaign, which was created to address situations like this.

The goal is to push for legislation that would require publishers to provide some way for players to continue accessing games after official support ends. The movement has started gaining some momentum, after 1.2 million votes from people within the EU, and in the U.S., recent developments in California have led to a bill being passed.
