Official IBNLive app for Windows 8 now available

Earlier today, we wrote about the Firstpost app for Windows 8 from Network 18. The group has also released the official IBNLive app for Windows 8. There’s an IBNLive app for Windows Phone for quite some time now, and the Windows 8 app is a welcome addition.

IBNLive (ibnlive.com) is a comprehensive news portal that complements the network’s news channels. The Windows 8 app provides news from India, along with videos and photo galleries, as well as live scores. You can also watch Network 18’s news channels – CNN-IBN, IBN7, and IBN Lokmat live from within the app.

The app allows you to save any news article to read at a later time. The app also allows you to read and comment on the news articles, as well as share the articles on Twitter and Facebook or via email. Just like with the Firstpost app, the app does not use the Share charm, and the developers chose to build similar functionality which makes the app inconsistent from other Windows Store apps.

The app is very nicely designed, and offers a clean and intuitive user experience. For the brief time I tried out the app, I found that the app takes a while to load. Also, I didn’t quite like the categories bar on the left since I think it could’ve been integrated with the top app bar for a true modern interface.

Nevertheless, it is definitely a fine news app for Windows 8 devices that is beautiful as well as functional. The IBNLive app is available for free from the Windows Store. Try it out, and let us know how you like it.
