Amateur Mango advert for assignment [Video]

This is a pretty cool advert for Windows Phone "Mango (opens in new tab)", and is most effective for being a short film with an amateur finish. It was created for an assignment by Izzy Gramp and was planned, filmed and edited within 24 hours. It demos a quick run-through of some of the features in Mango including Local Scout (opens in new tab) and Bing Vision (opens in new tab).

  • comments on vimeo are disabled, so I'll just give my 2 cents here.nice idea and great concept. Though I had a lot of trouble keeping up with the pace of action and information shown. Too much shown at once for a too short amount of time.Other than that, WP7 fanbase is growing awesomer everyday! ;)
  • great ad. the end was a little abrupt, but overall i enjoyed it.
  • very well put together...its trendy, fast and gives you an idea how people normally use their phone.
  • did anyone notice that the music player shown in the beginning is taken from a NoDo device? It looks different in Mango now :D
  • Very nice ad. Pretty much straight to the point.
  • And what about the first concept of WP7? This AD doesn't looks like "Design to get you in... and out" :)
  • Don't like it as an ad - but good job anyway =)
  • I agree that a lot of the cuts are too quick to allow the viewer to read/absorb everything that's being thrown at them - the Office segment in particular - I have no idea what the blurb on the right said, because my eye was riveted to the movement of the (relatively unimportant) stuff being typed in the center. I also think showing the character working on a desktop PC at one point may put the idea in people's mind that the phone can't do everything you need it to do. I think the expectation that a phone can completely replace a PC is kind of silly, but I also think that consumers tend to dislike being shown what a product can't do, even if its inability to do it is completely reasonable (for instance, WP7 can't shoot rainbows made of delicious fudge out of its screen - probably not necessary to put that in an ad).The core concept of a day in the life of a WP7 user is a very good one, though. Maybe a similar ad could be made featuring different types of users going through their days and using the same features to different ends, as well as different features where appropriate. There could be a student much like the one in this video, a businessperson (to play up the enterprise capabilities of the device), an artist (looping back toward the Me series), and a parent caring for kids or something like that, and it could end with each "character" being represented by a Live Tile on a home screen.
  • Them's some hot PJ's at the beginning of the video.
