Earlier this year, Microsoft announced the closing of Lionhead Studios and the ending of development for its free-to-play fantasy RPG Fable Legends. Today, as promised, the online servers have been shut down for the beta test to the Xbox One and Windows 10 game.
In a blog post, Lionhead stated:
All of us here at Lionhead Studios would like to thank you for participating in the closed beta and being a part of the game's development. All stories have to end eventually, but the memories of Heroic triumphs and Villainous plots will last forever. Thank you for your support - you are all Legends!
The blog adds that while some players who purchased in-game Gold have received refunds, the company is still processing the other refunds that will be put into each player's Microsoft account:
If you have not yet received your refund, please be patient and check back again soon. We will send another notification message to all players when all refunds are complete.
Recent rumors claim that a group of Lionhead team members have been attempting to continue development of Fable Legends on their own, under Microsoft's approval, but so far there's been no confirmation on those reports.
