Happy happy joy joy!
-
Can we approve to our wall yet?
-
Wow photo comments.. About time
-
You gotta love playing with logs.
-
The news feed is fixed! My news feed is no longer full of strangers wishing people happy birthday!
-
Nice update, but still prefer in-built.
-
The built in was so damn limited on what it could do it was a joke looking back at it. Now if it included all these features and was super fast, that would be a different story.
-
I think you're missing the point of the built-in one. It was SUPPOSED to be a streamlined and minimal design. Give you the basics of your feed. The other nice thing about the built-in version was that it integrated with Twitter as well. Write once, post multiple places simultaneously.
-
Yes, that's what I liked most about WP when it first came out. It made it stand out the most for me. The OS
-
The only thing missing was notifications. If it had had that, it would have been perfect.
-
But didn't notifications show up on the me tile? Another feature I miss...
-
They have literally bastardized the Me tile. Talk about 'progression'. Hate to see WP moving towards an app centric model. MS should understand that people chose WP for a reason. And that reason is seamless integration of stuff we do daily with the core of the OS.
-
But how do you fix the update problem if a bug is found in the integrated stuff? Carriers are so damn slow to update devices that this integrated model only works well for Apple. And don't even say the developer preview is the answer because register people who are not techies don't even know what the heck a developer is. Please answer this.
-
You are right. This is something MS should have worked on. I agree that carriers, especially in the US, are PITA but then you also have the main app for such instances. The point here is not to belittle the presence of the actual app. It is to condemn the abolition of the Hub model which was a defining feature of the platform.
-
"People who chose..." only got them 3% market share in 4 yrs. People who love it as app centric will take the OS to 30% in next 4.
-
There were many other factors which contributed to poor adoption - bad marketing, restricted access to devs etc. Pre- middle 2013 (before talk of 8.1 came out and people started getting genuinely excited), one of the driving reasons for at least the 4% marketshare was indeed the integration of SNS within the OS core. All the marketing from WP7 onwards was on the pretext of seamless access to people and content you care the most.
-
Yeah, but it was great for quick posts and replies.
-
I would have liked a compromise where I can post or like super quick from the built-in side, but be able to do all of the advanced stuff from the app. That would have been a perfect mix.
-
There's an app that does that for you. I forgot what it was called multi something.... I used to use it I just never downloaded it back again
-
Multishare
-
Unishare is great too, it does URL shortening and multishare doesnt.
-
It's Multishare, I've used it but it's not the same.
-
You can do that. The facebook app is plugs into the people hub remember?
-
It hooks into the hub but if you want to post or like a post you have to open the app. I'm saying if just those 2 aspects were kept built in, it would be perfect.
-
They should've made social apps have a mandatory option (so you can leave it out if you want to) to plug into the people hub. I miss quick likes, comments, and the speed of just scrolling through my feed like I did on 7.x.
-
This ^^
-
I think this is where they are heading with the Deep Social Integration APIs. Hopefully we will see apps taking advantage of them soon.
-
Truth is the built-in was alright... The usability wasn't that high. BUT, the built-in Messenger is where it was at. The fact that i could text and FB message from the same spot was the reason of existing. Now-a-days I spend 70% of my battery between Messaging, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp... Which is sad...
-
Everyone I know has WhatsApp, no one I know uses it though lol
-
I miss this feature the most.
-
Guys, what is better to have, Facebook or Facebook beta?
-
The previous version was very buggy. Let's see how this update makes the experience better :)
-
yeah finally update again! :)
-
Photo comment!! Finally
-
Yes!!!! This⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆⬆ .. We can finally add photos to comments.. The app is officially complete!
-
Not by a long shot. You still can't tag names in comments and you still can't post to a specific profile. In order to do that, you need to copy link you want to share, exist app, open FB, go to friends list, open desired profile and there manually add status. If this your idea of being officially complete, I feel sorry for you.
-
You can tag names in comments.. -_- just put @ then the name... Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
-
U don't have to put @ anymore. Just type a name. I was surprised.. Good work.
-
You feel sorry for me because of two features that already existed in the app even before this update❓ You're an idiot three times over..
Idiot 1. Because you could already tag.
Idiot 2. Because you can post to specific profiles.
Idiot 3. Because it's just a stupid app, and whether, or not, it's complete, or not, in my eyes, or yours, is in no way any reason to go around feeling sorry for anything... If your life is that pathetic then I think we should all feel sorry for YOU❗ Dumb ass. -
Adequate reaction is adequate... Anyway, even if it is possible to tag people in status and comment, you can NOT share stuff to single person. FB on Android has option for it, however FB on WP doesn't have such option. If you still think it does, please, enlighten me and show me screenshot.
-
Messenger.
.......................
I'll refrain from making anymore rude comments, but that's what messenger is for.. If you combine all the features of both apps, the our FB experience is pretty complete now...
.............
Sorry for calling you an idiot. -

-
been waiting for that feature for years haha
-
I miss the built in Facebook support. It was so quick compaired to the beta FaceBook app. Nice addition to the beta FaceBook app though, much needed!
-
Same here I miss too:(
-
Me too. I remember the WP challenge against other OS to be the fastest to post on people FB's wall thru People's hub. ... That was bloody impressive..
-
Why oh GOD why it's so hard the news feed to just show the most recent posts, every update same issue..
-
I believe this is a Facebook level issue. Not the app.
-
IOS and Android app can still go to settings and change to most recent.
-
If you open facebook.com and changres it there, it Will also be reflected in the app
-
Imma try
-
FB feeds vary depending on how you're viewing and on what type of device. Official App on Android is even more prone to pulling up old items just cause someone liked it or commented.
-
agree, but if you open the public "non beta app" the newsfeed shows tha most recent posts, unlike the beta :/ so it's weird actually
-
Like the other guy said. Go to IE, facebook.com. There you choose "most recent". Close and go to the app. Update and there you go =)
-
I was facing the same issue, I uninstalled the Facebook app, went to Facebook.com and changed the news feed to most recent and installed the Facebook app again. Now its working fine.
-
Agree! Why is the browser version so different?
-
I still don't know how to upload profile pic to facebook using the app.....any pointers
-
Open an uploaded photo, tap the dots at the bottom and choose "make profile picture".
-
"Upload a profile picture"
if you upload your photo then make it as your profile picture it will be posted twice -
upload the picture first to your wall and then open it and choose "make profile picture" or something like that. figured that out drunk last weekend. head over to my fb to see the stunning result.
-
Haha
-
It's easy. Go to your photo albums. Choose the Profile Pictures Album upload a pic. It will be invisible in your wall or in the news feed. Then make it profile pic from the app or from the mobile version and it will be posted on your wall and in the news feed :)
-
I noticed improvement with the Newsfeed. It doesn't look like messed up anymore.
-
Yeah, the news feed has been jacked up..
-
I also noticed, just today, that you can upload a photo or video while keeping the app in the background, so amazing!
-
Yeah, it's way better. But, it has bugs!
-
and the next update will fix it haha
-
Here's my issue: I have noticed that both the official and beta versions of Facebook have problems with large gaps in time missing from my News Feed. Example: Opened the app a moment ago, and my NF jumps from 38 minutes ago to 17 hours ago in official, and from 43 mins ago to 14 hours ago in the beta. Are others experiencing similar issues? NL1520.2 on ATT, Cyan with PFD 8.1.1
-
It's not you, it's the app. The problem is, it's not an official app built by Facebook. Microsoft makes it, so they don't have access to all the APIs.
-
Microsoft can sniff (reversing) the android version to know the hidden API but it's all about being legal xD
-
Pretty much. They tried that with the Youtube app, got an immediate cease and desist.
-
Doesn't it just show what people have most recently commented on? It's not that the stuff is missing, it's that an older item received more recent activity. I feel like this is a misunderstanding of people on how Facebook works, not a bug. (note I'm not saying that is true, it's just what I suspect... I can't say that I am active enough on Facebook to have personally confirmed it)
-
Go to IE, facebook.com. There you choose "most recent". Close and go to the app. Update and there you go =)
-
I don't understand why this was removed from the app itself.
-
My news feed has never been the same as in the browser. It's frustrating.
-
Fudging yes
-
So now this supercedes the real app? lol I never know which one to be on anymore
-
What...the fuck...where is the tagging?? WHY CAN WE STILL NOT TAG PEOPLE?!
-
Use @
-
You already can tag people!! Write @ and then the beginning of the name.
-
I guess people need a manual for using social media apps these days too.
-
On Facebook ask you need to do is write the name, on instagram you need to write the @ symbol, that's why be made that comment.
-
That would be completely different than how the Android and iOS versions work, where all you need to do is start typing the name, and friend suggestions auto fill it. But that would be too difficult for the one intern maintaining this app up in Redmond.
-
In this update it works like Johnny Tremaine described it. You only need to write the beginning of the name without "@"
-
Try the app before commenting.
-
F**K YEAH!!! PHOTO COMMENT!! SO HAPPY!
-
Photo comment...? Am not sure what that means...is it uploading a photo...like a meme...as a comment...?
-
Yes ;)
-
yesssss or uploading something to call someone an a**hole
-
^ hahaha lel
-
Exactly
-
OMG FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Finally the loooooong awaiting update
-
And now the ability to view polls
-
Good!!!!
-
Why they used half of the previous improvements in this version improvements list??
-
Does this work with Ello now? ;)
-
I tried Ello and it sucked so bad it made Facebook look like a king made of gold and cotton candy.
-
Finally! Edit comments
-
How do you do that? I long pressed and it just says "delete" and going to the post itself doesn't provide any edit. What about privacy for each post?
-
Use the ellipse. The three dots.
-
Can we PLEASE get the ability to "UN-FOLLOW" not "UN-FRIEND" just un-follow right into the mobile app? I am unsure if even the android app can do it tho also but its pretty stupid having to go to the site to unfollow someone haha
-
Did they finally fix the damn newsfeed unable to get data errors? I've been holding off on the last two FB updates becuase of this!
-
They have.
-
Thanks
-
Photo commenting?!?!?! EDIT: AND I can save the photos in the comments?!?! Happy happy joy joy!
-
But can I action those notifications that say I need to review am item on my timeline? At the moment there is no timeline in this app and I have to log on to my PC...
-
And when are we going to be able to view instagram posts in the FB app? Soon???
-
Never, and many other posts you'll also never see.. I suggest you use jdb for facebook
-
Apparently the feed has been fixed. Thanks god
-
Finally!!! I hope the next fix will be the news feed, * make it more similar to the ie version*
-
Back to beta! Haha
-
+1020
-

-
I literally needed to edit a comment earlier today (rare for me), and was like "REALLY?! Why isn't this a thing yet?!" So simple, why don't we have this?! Now we do!!!!
-
:)
-
If I really needed to, I used to delete and rewrite. Not very practical but it helped. Overjoyed right now.
-
I am only missing the ability to receive all kind of notifications. It is there in the Win8 app, but some are missing in the phone app.
-
Probably a silly question...but by editing comments does it mean delete? That is the only option I see when I click on a post or comment. A.
-
No, it means edit to. Not wall posts, only comments.
-
Finally the features we are looking for. *phew*
-
Has it improved the message 'We are having trouble getting your data'?
-
Yes!
-
IN-LINE COMMENT PHOTOS. Finally!
-
Really nice update. Faster. Smoother. Improved designed. :):)
-
I thought video upload had been there for a while? Not seeing the ability to edit comments or a so called new design, app looks the same as it did before the update.
-
Photo comments supported fb messenger icon at the bottom of profile pages are different
-
Like I mentioned above, the reason the Fb app doesn't have as much functionality, behind the Android and iOS versions, is because it's built by Microsoft, who probably don't have full access to the Facebook APIs. On the other hand, Facebook actually builds the app for iOS and Android; guess they couldn't be bothered for the Windows version. I don't think that's going to be changing with W10 and the promise (false?) of "universal apps" either.
-
It might be better with W10, you can't really predict the future.
-
Microsoft is an investor in Facebook, and yet the devs at Fb couldn't be bothered to develop an app for Windows. So you think that the *next* version of Windows will show them the error of their ways? Doubtful.
-
Ms handed it over to FB
-
Finally...thank you
-
Finally
-
Photo comments now supported
-
Good update, some serious performance fixes and we'll be on par with IOS and Android.
-
Photo edit still buggy
-
Seems faster
-
Yes, yes, yes!!!
-
Finally. Yet this update breaks the news feed again so you can't see tagged posts, Instagram posts, profile picture changes etc.
-
Noticed that too. You can't see Instagram cross posts again. (FACEPALM.)
-
Does it seem faster or not?
-
Cool, but I'm going to stick to the mobile website until this is worth using.. :D
-
Scrolls down looking for commenting with photos... FINALLY! Sometimes, a response is best made with a meme. Finally...
-
Please bring back the Instagram posts and others posts that I was seeing in the previous update!!
-
It's great, and of course Windows 10 will bring us a universal Facebook app too!
-
So it still drains battery? And what do they mean with messaging support? I cant see messages
-
It means if you got to someone's profile, you'll see a Message button in the task bar at the bottom. When you click it, it opens Facebook Messenger and directly meesages that person.
-
Damn I just uninstalled beta too because it was so buggy. Time to sync again...
-
Crap ..utter crap. Websites will not scroll meh
-
Pictures in comments!!!!!!!!!!
-
It's so odd they only allow you to edit comments within a post but not editing the post text itself. No complaining just finding it weird they did that. Folks, we're finally getting closer to the point of having a badass Facebook app for Windows Phone.
-
Nice job ... This what we wanted, from you
-
They need to make better improvements for the Facebook Messenger App then ill be excited ^_^
-
Still can't share something directly to someone else's page.
-
....and it broke the news feed and Instagram cross posts again. Maybe Microsoft should get another intern; the one they have working on this now ain't cutting it.
-
No need to @ to tag..yehey!!
-
Bout freakin time! Now they need to add the "What Are You Doing?" on the status post to add Feeling, Watching, Reading, Listening To, Drinking, Eating, Playing, Traveling To, Looking For. They fixed the people tagging too. In the last update the keyboard would cover up the people's name so you could barely see who you were selecting.
-
Finally! Edit comment feature!
-
Hey MS, bring back the ability to post comments and like posts directly from the Hubs without opening the good for nothing apps!!!!!
-
Yep. The apps have always kind of sucked, but the argument used to be, "Hey, you can just do most things from inside the OS itself", like reading a news feed on Facebook, and posting a comment or status. Now that the hubs are gone, all that you're left with is, .....well, the apps still kind of suck, but they're your only option.
-
Microsoft didnt want to remove it was fb inc who eanted to remove the integration and then they launched their stupid fb messenger which has got poor reviews all over the globe. they suck actually.
-
Great update! comment with images was so awaited.
-
Still missing feel watching status
-
Crashes on video play back. One step forward two steps back Uninstalled again
-
But we are no longer seen friends Posts after last update :3
-
Wow. STILL no hashtag support???? REALLY?
-
#+1
-
The app resumes instantly. Noice.
-
I STILL do not get the logic in "We need to take away the built in integration that set us apart so that we can continue to provide you with a half baked FB app that is MONTHS if not a full year behind our competitors." Yeah, makes GREAT sense MS. Keep it up!
-
Have nested comments landed yet?
-
I hope it can upload photos even when locked
-
Still cannot see comments on events. Hopefully they fix this soon..
-
JDB Facebook, or Facebook Metro is better imo. Anyway, great update for the beta.
-
Is there a difference between the Facebook app that was preinstalled on the phone and this? They are both from Microsoft.
-
This is the beta release, a preview version and the one preinstalled is the stable release.
-
Like if it was too hard to do years ago.. Microsoft and its nerds... They work hard I guess but they should want to give us quality apps at the same level of other OS and even better to make us want to stay! I'm honestly here for 920 camera.. I still like the design.. A little.. Bah.. I love this phone.. I just can't agree with Microsoft moves...
-
Nice improvement!
-
Finally, a change log after so many updates.
-
How many 'seems faster' comment here?
-
Needs ability to reply to comments now
-
Ability to edit comments, you say? Finally!
-
I don't like the fact you have to use facebook messenger app to talk, its downgrade still! I don't want facebook spying on my phone using their app!
-
The message support was already there in Facebook beta! However, the messenger itself sucks, since it doesn't show currently online people anymore. Also the facebook app cannot replace PC yet because it doesn't show everything like when people like photos and all I can see is that they liked some photo but I don't know which. Also a very important feature missing it the ability to review posts I was tagged in.
-
One thing they still haven't added is support for group admins. I am a group admin and I cant add anyone who requests to join.
-
BIG improvement!!! Lots of crucial features have FINALLY been added! From tagging someone's name in a status or comment, to adding photos in a comment, editing comments or posts, a newsfeed that actually shows recent stories. Amazing update!!
-
Great update... Too bad I can't see any of it because "we're having trouble getting data"
-
Wow...this is so much better than the regular app...why was i never using this before. Still sad to see how far behind features are compared to android and IOS. It's more than having the apps on the app store it's having updated apps. I mean. I love cracked.com and their app for windows phone still says "cracked for windows phone 7" in the about section. Just saying.
-
After the big flop of flipboard atleast this is a good news for us...
-
Photo comments! Finally... :)
-
Is anyone else not getting the update? It wont show in my store for some weird reason. Could someone help me?
-
Hope the Messenger Update allow to install/move to SD card
-
Wow... After Update Can't see Our Friends Post... In previous update we could.... Need update..
-
I am waiting much for metro style Facebook!
-
Agreed.. I just tried Facebook Metro and i really liked it.
-
Expecting dis all updates in FB app too.. Not nly in beta version is enough.. Satisfy dos ppls.
-
Yes it will be in fb app too.
-
Finally! Woohoo
-
Still its limited..
1) no option to give mood status
2) still cannot share a link to someone's profile
3) about me section still limited.. -
Dude this is a huge change list can you at least be happy like damn they could fix everything and people would still complain
-
I know its a huge update..but as an user why cant i expect to enjoy all the features which android and ios users enjoying from a long time..Why the app is not at par with the android and ios version? Why we the WP user always have to wait and be patient to get the new features..
-
I completely agree with you I feel the same way I feel ours is superior in many way but there was a lack in organization early on plus they were was so much Microsoft was trying to catch up in ut if you look at the app now from 6 months ago or even a year ago its sooooo much better. All I'm saying is definitely comment and ask for more features but sound as ungrateful as if they haven't just added some great features this update.
-
Upload profile photo and cover photo please. I dont see it in the current app
-
Need feed still shows posts only from pages and no friend activity.
Damn you Microsoft. -
I find it fun that this is a Microsoft app so they should now to put the changelog details section but they put it in the descriptions..
-
Still can't tag names when making a post! I can't wait for my iPhone!
-
Yes you can, you use @ and then start typing the persons name. Been available for awhile now.
-
You don't have to use @ anymore.
-
Will I be able to see my friend's posts now??
-
Congrats, with the latest update now we cant see our friends update :(:'(
-
I mostly use the website though. The removal of SNS integration from the OS core was a big mistake. Sure, it had issues once in a while but most of the time it worked. There was no battery drain nonsense by using poorly optimized apps and for the basic tasks of viewing and liking posts, it was really good. And the convinience of FB chat integrated with the Messaging hub. WP should have retained the original integration along with the improved SEF. It would have truly been the BEST personal smartphone ever. I dont think MS is offering a true legitimate argument that apps tend to get updated frequently and hence break the integration. My friends are still running on 8.0 and the integration works just as before.
-
No copy and paste .
-
Yep. Many a time I needed to copy someone's post and couldn't. Very much needed.
-
What about Windows 8/8.1 version? Will there be new update in the coming days? Compared to WP8 and Android/iOS version, what about "get once on different Windows platform
-
Looks more stable, there is still the most important feature missing, the privacy setting before posting your status, it doesn't allow you to customize as the settings are limited to Friends, Public, Only me and Friends except acquaintances.
-
Wow photo comment is nice.
-
Developers need to update it better and give as cover photo and profile picture changing option
-
Now i can use People hub with FB Beta...i was not able to do that before this update, thank you :)
-
Guys I've just uninstalled the facebook and installed the beta version .. Its amazin but I'm facing a weird thing which is that the beta version doesn't appear in the notification + actions .. So any new notification won't appear at the notification center .. Any help ?
And I'm just wondering if there is any app would show me the details of replying comments here or at any windows related websites without logging in the outlook from the internet explorer ?
Please help .. Thanks -
Choice to select type of news feed. Recent or most popular.
-
Messenger support??? I cant see anything changed... I would like to open messenger as a window iside the fb app like android...
-
That's it. I am done complaining; the beta has it all now. News feed is also looking better.
-
How do I remove the pic on live tile and keep the default app( 'f' sign) ? Please help.. :(
-
Using built-in facebook was cool. I just tried "Facebook Metro" app and i like the old Facebook app. It's beautiful, fast and more WP! I don't like android style and "never done" facebook.
-
Thought I was happy with the new Glance Screen features today then discovered this....very happy Windows Phone owner today! Photo Comments at last and in post tagging at last. Only thing missing is a few apps I liked on ios and Android and I'll never need to jump back to those too again.
-
i never understand why these updates arrive like monthly magazines nothing new comes with these the same performance most lagging such a foolish app on windows phone
-
That's really great, but CAN we have "I'm feeling -" PLEASE?????????????
-
<<Runs to phone to test out new update!! Awesome!
-
Bugs bugs and bugs
-
It's only Beta it's to be expected. I can live with the jerky scrolling of the newsfeed to get the new much needed features for now
-
Well, all i get is a blank screen everytime i load the app. It really sucks. Going back to non-betta. Anybody else getting that?
-
Photo comments was good update, nice!
-
Holy crap! About time.
-
An app developed by incompetents. That's all I can say. News feed functionality is broken..AGAIN. Features missing. Loading error, slow image loading, etc. etc etc. And I'm on a 500 Mbps connection. It seems nobody is able to create an app for us, users who use these damn phones. Should have stayed on Android, god damn it!
-
But not has set photo cover ☹ please update
-
Every time you open Facebook/Beta, the news feed automatically refreshes. Now, it does refresh but the new posts don't show up. It's just a white blank screen with the tabs on the top and bottom. C'mon MS!! What are you doing to the Facebook app??? I'm really getting more and more disappointed over Windows Phone apps.....
-
Not sure if this is new but its nice: Now if you try to post a status and it fails, there's a queue screen where you can retry the post.
-
It's so hard to believe that once a great company like Microsoft can't do a decent app. We're not asking for an app better than iOS. But to just add the basic features? Wait, I've been using it for yeaars and what all we've got is all of this insignificant bug fixes updates... On beta. There should be no beta for us. Just release it on the main one... I don't like installing 2 fb apps. Who are these people working on FB app? Did they even graduate college with tech course or did they just attended your tutorials and training? MS should be ashamed. You got the worst developers.
