Microsoft unveils Fable reboot headed by Playground Games
Microsoft's Fable role-playing series is back with a fresh look for Xbox Series X.
Microsoft has unveiled an upcoming reboot of its Fable role-playing series, marking its long-rumored return after almost a decade since its last mainline entry. The first teaser for the Playground Games-led project made its debut at the Xbox Games Showcase on July 23, showcased alongside other next-generation experiences geared toward the Xbox Series X. The title surfaced alongside a brief cinematic teaser trailer, establishing the setting for the next franchise installment.
Fable Reboot: Everything We Know
The existence of a new Fable entry isn't hugely surprising, with developer Playground Games teasing an open-world action-geared role-playing game (RPG) over recent years. Multiple reports suggested the series was far from finished, despite the closure of creator, Lionhead Studios, and cancellation of Fable Legends, back in 2016. The UK developer established a secondary Leamington Spa team comprised of several hundred employees, separated from roots in Forza Horizon.
Details on the setting for Fable remain murky, providing just a brief glimpse of the art direction. Microsoft is also yet to provide a release window, although confirms availability on Xbox Series X and PC, seemingly dropping the Xbox One console.

Finally, the worst kept secret is no longer!
Told us nothing though. Really disappointed with that.
That should have been expected at the same time. I think it will be next year before we even see a trailer, much less any game play.
This was great. An official reveal. 2 things that made me happy. The art direction is fantastic. And the humor remains. Sure gameplay would be nice, but this is one of the best studios in the Wolrd. It's gonna be awesome now I'm confident in the direction.
So long as gameplay is better than the first three games, I'm in.
