People app update adds History tab on Windows 10 for PC

Microsoft has rolled out an update to the People app for Windows 10, adding a History tab for each contact that gives you an overview of your interactions with that particular contact.

People app

The feature made its way to Windows 10 Mobile users last week, and we're now seeing Microsoft bring the same functionality to desktop users. The update brings the version number of the People app to 10500 from 10220.

  • Now it looks the one they showed in in January event! Awesome Update Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • They still have to add groups, and integration with social apps Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Groupme with a calendar would be a start.
  • GroupMe and People groups are already present in W10M (within the people app) Posted via Universal Windows App on W10
  • Yup, that's just the few of the long list they need to implement in People app that is long overdue. At the moment People app isn't really the People app we know since it's introduction from WP7 with so many features it lacks, even for contact manager it's just tad too basic. Aside from Groups and Social Integration (a People app very feature), it also needs Favorites too.
  • not really: https://skypeblogs.files.wordpress.com/2015/01/w10_pc_people_contactcard...
  • Wow, that was really well designed compared to what we have.
  • Well, this is what the People app supposed to be at launched but yeah, they kinda abandoned it for a long time in Windows 10. What we have currently is basically a good as less-than-alpha build that it doesn't even deserved to be part of public builds.
  • I need to go to UserVoice and add a vote for making links clickable (or at least copyable) in the WC app
  • I just click the "Read in Browser" button and then click the link when Edge opens up with this Posted via Universal Windows App on W10
  • How come my 950 never received the update? Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 950
  • Insider fast ring
  • Don't wanna become an Insider. But I just got the update, finally.. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10 Mobile on Lumia 950

  • Is there a way to clear the history?
  • I did the update today ..but the history thing isn't there Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Have you made the window wide enough? There is no way to get to the history "pane" without widening the window
  • I'm assuming this syncs?
  • It does, the text messaging you sent on your phone show in there, but Skype messages don't at this point - Gabe Aul said that is on it's way though
  • Why is history feature not there in W10M although it is there in WP8.1??
  • The history feature is there in both phone and desktop +640/Win10
  • It's there also in W10M too with their recent updates. Check if you got app updates to People app.
  • I just received this update on my 950xl....
  • good for you since everyone else on W10 also got it Posted via Universal Windows App on W10
  • On phone, the contact profile page is accent - coloured and the adjacent History page is black/white. This is so much blinding. There have been so many feedbacks to remove the accent coloured page from the people app, but now everyone has forgotten about it due to inaction of the company. This is how Microsoft silences and ignores the feedbacks.
  • Personally I enjoy the accent coloured page and have given feedback saying so - I'm sure many other people have too so maybe more people have expressed preference for the coloured page than a black/white one? Or maybe Microsoft is just ignoring feedback, but that seems unlikely.
  • Post a link to the feedback here so people who are interested in asking them to remove the colour can easily go vote. Personally I don't mind the colour, making it an option would be a good solution - Which is quite easy to do in UWP apps
  • There are several feedbacks. Here's the most upvoted one with 1028 upvotes. Paste the string in Edge's address bar:- Windows-Feedback:?contextid=30&feedbackid=42f11fb6-270f-4e52-a857-4b2f5fd5b81a&form=2&src=2 OR just search for "colour" (not color) in Apps and Games>People and sort by "upvotes".
  • Me too, well it does looks fine on certain colors but such as brighter tone colors really does blinding bright (such as yellow). I think they need some tweak on the color presentation so that it won't look too gaudy on certain theme colors. I even think the color should just follow the contact photo color with heavy blur as a background image of the contact photo would be nice, and make it dark.
  • Or simply make it black/white like the previous People Hub. W10M looks so much incomplete, with the unfinished and awful first-party apps adding up to the incompletion.
  • I personally really like the color, it looks awesome
  • oooooo I can see my Att text messages.
  • It would be more useful that when you clicked on an email in history that is took you to the actual email as apposed to just opening the email app.
  • Worst app ever
  • The article title is not right, this adds the history on Mobile too. Last week's update was just for the people on the redstone build, I just got this on my 950XL.
  • I got it last week (along with the Skype update) on my 950 on the Release Preview Ring (So 10586.107) - Which is correct as apps are also making their way through the various rings (Assuming you are just on production updates)
  • I'm on the release preview ring too, strange.
  • Who wants Microsoft app updates we need third party apps and games
  • Why not both?
  • Uhm... I do.
  • I have it since last week
  • I click on the link from there sent me to the store but did not give me to update the app with new people I build for PC
  • Does anybody have the "Vibrate when my call is answered" option in the phone app on Lumia 950XL Dual SIM variant?? I upgraded from Lumia 1520 but seems it does not have that option. Also I'm not with inside build on this phone.
  • Settings/System/Phone L950
  • Nope. Can't see the option.
  • I have it also, but on Single Sim L950 - Maybe the option isn't available for dual SIM at the moment
  • Yes maybe. Are you with insider preview?
  • getting better, but long shot till the last picture: * no syncing with phone and web contacts: phone is the most competed one (using facebook beta), but images and data are not synced to pc version * no way to merge contacts (I am not saying linking, I meant merging data). Web version for "clean up" not quite working. If I change device, I am sold out. * my own contact dissapeared from the people hub, so no way to change my own data anymore * maximum number of mails and phones you can have for a contact
  • One problem with merging is where do you store that data if you merge a contact from your Outlook.com and Office 365 account? Merging could possibly be better done by a third party tool that lets you decide where the final destination is for a contact, this would then Sync from your Microsoft Account as a single contact, and remove the other entries. There must be an application out there that does this already
  • Is it non-insiders that are only just getting it for PC now? I got it before I got it on my phone, it's a pretty good update
  • FINALLY!!!!  The first noticeable update of People app in Windows 10! Now we need to make it at least like the concept they showed last build. http://www.winbeta.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/win10-windows-contacts... This update is long overdue. Now we need these People, Messaging, Phone, and Skype Video app to be completed they deserve in Redstone 1.
  • This came out for non-Insider mobile too just now.
  • Neat update, and a better use of dead space (On my setup), on the phone it is a swipable page, would like to see that as an option as well as choice of background colour instead of White with black type so you had the choice (Choice is good).
  • So basically the update comes a week later for everyone after releasing to the slow ring folks' cool !
  • Got the update for my L550 normal people phone lol .
  • No cardDav yet... :-(
  • there  is a lot to be done on W10M feature wise, some of the features that were on 8.1 have been removed or made worse, if MS is listening to people as they claim to be, we shouldn't be complaining much about lack of features by now but lack of apps which can be understandable (third part). Android made it simple to chose which apps connect to internet using data or WI-FI only by just selecting/ticking boxes where applications are listed against boxes where you tick or untick to your liking.
  • Have they removed the polka dots from the people hub yet? I can't wait until they do.
  • I've had this in Redstone for a while. Shows text message but clicking them only brings you to skype messages.
  • Good update! Looking forward for realtime sms syncing between devices and working messaging app on desktop.
