What is AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)?

AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) refers to an AI-powered system that surpasses human cognitive capabilities across various tasks. However, key players in the AI landscape have seemingly used the term to mean different things.
For instance, Microsoft's multi-billion partnership with OpenAI defines AGI (at least figuratively) as an AI-powered system capable of generating up to $100 billion in profit.
Anthropic, Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI have made significant headway in the AI race. Still, it remains unclear who will make it to the finish line as the technology continues to scale greater heights and becomes more exorbitant, demanding more resources.
