What's Microsoft teasing here? (Update: Arc Touch Mouse?)

Your guess is as good as ours as to what Microsoft's currently teasing on Twitter. So far, they've only said "Don’t be so touchy…flat is where it’s at." Maybe it's a new Zune HD. Or maybe it's a Windows Phone 7 device. (But with Microsoft branding!?!?) A tablet? An e-reader? Some sort of trackpad? Search us, but we'll be keeping an eye on it, for sure. [via @msfthardware]

Update: So Neowin is reporting that this lil' gizmo is the new Microsoft Arc Touch Mouse, which supposedly features a multi-touch track pad on top and acts as a mouse otherwise. This is reportedly to take advantage of the multi-touch features of Windows 7 without investing in an expensive screen. Sounds cool. It's supposed to be available in September.  -Malatesta

  • It's HTC's WP7 device!
  • You guys always get carried away with you mobile device obsessions. MSFT Hardware deals with Mice, Keyboards and Webcams. Even the first twit from the source says that. http://twitter.com/msfthardware/status/19600472768 So your all gonna be really disappointed!r
  • Yeah, pretty sure it's just a mouse.... With Windows Phone 7 built in! woooo!
  • I'm guessing a Zune HD 2 with wp7 or a branded wp7 phone.
http://www.spurgeonworld.com/willsblog/archives/zune-hd-black.jpg I don't think it's a touch pad because the ms logo is where the touch area should be, and I don't think it's a mouse because that looks very uncomfortable to use.
  • Could it be a new Microsoft device for hand gesture controls? Put this flat device on your desk, and you have gesture controls for your PC or laptop! With the release of Kinect for Xbox, this is seems like a natural step.
  • Next generation mouse from Microsoft Hardware.
  • Whatever it is, they're just getting us used to the idea of popping off the back cover so we can pull the battery and reset the darn thing.
  • My guess is an XBox remote.
It's black to match the new XBox and definitely under the Microsoft Hardware division.
