Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has decided, after over 10 years, to stop offering the public any advance previews of software security bulletins the company plans to release as part of its monthly "Patch Tuesday" event, which happens on the second Tuesday of every month. In a statement, Microsoft said it will continue to offer its Advance Notification Service (ANS) "directly to Premier customers and current organizations involved in our security programs."

It's the second Tuesday of June and Microsoft is back at it with firmware updates for the Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 tablets, bringing some performance improvements and bug fixes to both slates. Owners of either tablets can download the updates through the Windows update menu, and doing so will give you improved battery life and sleep performance with the Power Cover among other improvements. Microsoft’s lineup of Surface tablets can be an excellent solution for those either looking for a tablet companion or to replace their existing PC. With the recent launch of Microsoft’s Power Cover, the abilities of Surface have expanded, but new hardware is not the only way Surface is improving. Today, as part of Microsoft’s March 2014 update, a stream of firmware updates and software fixes have been released for the Surface 2, Surface Pro, and Surface Pro 2.
