Astroneer launched in Xbox Game Preview many months ago, and has since received a steady stream of updates. A lot of them have been game-changing and the most recent one is no different. Rovers are now more configurable than ever. Apart from that, the "Rover Update" contains a new vehicle, improved driving controls, new ways to use rovers for fun, and a ton of performance improvements.

The Rover Update's trailer does a great job of showcasing the new ways you can use these vehicles. If you want to drive like a madman, that's also possible. It's great to see Astroneer embracing a more jovial tone going forward.

Driving rovers was always a little cumbersome beforehand, so their suspension system was overhauled a few months ago. This should make steering them much easier. However, getting rovers has always been a difficult task to begin with, so the research costs relating to vehicles was also reduced. Now more players will be able to cruise planets in style and jump off cliffs.

The developer promised more changes in the future, like even better steering and new hazards. Astroneer is a good game so far, but still needs a lot of work. Hopefully it will continue to improve in the coming months as we approach a proper release. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more.
