One of my favorite creature-collectors that's WAY better than modern Pokémon is now less than half price!
Monster Hunter Stories 1 and 2 are fantastic JRPGs that combine the addicting creature-capturing nature of Pokémon with the monster-slaying action of Monster Hunter

With Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection on the horizon, it's time to revisit Capcom's awesome spin-off series that blends the best bits of Monster Hunter and Pokémon-likes in preparation for its next-gen debut.
Thankfully, the PC version of the Monster Hunter Stories Collection that bundles the first two games is now on sale, 'True-Charged-Slashing' its MSRP of $67.99 down to $28.59 at Loaded.
Monster Hunter Stories is an amazing series of turn-based JRPGs that feature colorful worlds to explore, addictive rock-paper-scissors-style combat systems, and dozens of cool monsters to hunt and tame.

Why is Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin a great game for creature-collector and Monster Hunter fans?
I don't know about you, but I have become disenfranchised at the state of Pokémon in recent years.
From Nintendo patenting of "summoning a character" in games that potentially could cause major irreparable damage to the gaming industry, to modern Pokémon games looking like unfinished mobile games (and even abandoning turn-based combat in Pokémon Legends: Z-A), I have officially given up on the franchise.
Thankfully, we have tons of better alternative Pokémon-like games to enjoy on PC, one of my favorites being Monster Hunter Stories.
These games are JRPG spin-offs of Capcom's Monster Hunter franchise that combine its action-hunting elements with that of the turn-based, creature-collector genre.
They are colorful, charming, fun titles that have you explore giant, imaginative worlds filled with mysteries to solve, villains to beat, and monsters to slay or tame as Monsties.
Each game in this collection is equally enjoyable in its own unique way. Monster Hunter Stories 1 has a more memorable story with deep character customization options for your Monstie party members.
Meanwhile, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin streamlines the combat system while adding tons more Monsties to collect and devastating weapons to use in battle to keep it fresh.
These games are a blast to play from start to finish, and I cannot recommend them enough for Monster Hunter fans and creature-collector fans. Especially now that the collection is on a 58% discount sale for $28.59 at Loaded, giving you the chance to buy both games for the price of one.
This makes this the perfect time to jump into the series and get hyped up for the impending release of Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, whose gameplay looks amazing so far.

Not necessarily, as Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection is a standalone game that takes place 200 years after Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin.
You can still play the previous games to familiarize yourself with the series' mechanics, however, as many of them will be retained in the 3rd entry.
