It appears that Tales from the Borderlands wasn't the last of the non-shooter games we'd see in the world of Borderlands.
Gearbox Software announced on Thursday that a new Tales from the Borderlands game was in development. Gearbox Software is partnering with 2K Games for the project. According to the announcement, this game is coming later in 2022, though the now-revived Telltale Games doesn't appear to be involved.
Platforms have not been announced, but it seems safe to assume the game will be available on all major consoles as well as PC.
The original Tales from the Borderlands was developed by Telltale Games in partnership with Gearbox Software, with the first episode launching in November 2014. While critically well-received, the episodic development suffered and the final episode wasn't released until almost a year later in October 2015.
The Borderlands universe seemingly went back to the mainline games only since then, with the launch of Borderlands 3 in 2019 and more recently, the fantasy spinoff Tiny Tina's Wonderlands in 2022.
Telltale Games, which went through a "majority studio closure" in 2018, has been revived and is currently working on multiple projects, including The Wolf Among Us 2, which is scheduled to arrive in 2023.
