We've been waiting for quite some time for IM+ to hit Windows Phone 7 and we finally have word that the first beta should be hitting the streets in April.
No other features have been announced, pricing or if the beta is open or closed. That's the bad news, but hey, at least it's still up for release this month in some form. In the meantime, Flory will have to hold us over, which is just fine by us.

He has been here covering Microsoft since 2007 when this site was called WMExperts (and later Windows Phone Central). His interests include Windows, Microsoft Surface, laptops, next-gen computing, and for some reason, watches. Before all this tech stuff, he worked on a Ph.D. in linguistics and ran the projectors at movie theaters, which has done absolutely nothing for his career.
Finally a all-in-one IM app for WP7 on the way. Better late than never.
Flory may work fine on a Focus but it;s absolutely useless on my Dell Venue Pro. No notifications of any kind unless I go INTO the app.And I will gladly pay for an IM app for my windows phone if it works as intended. Although I have a hunch one part of the Mango update will include integrated messenger with one of the hubs (ala BBM; but utilizing Windows Live Messenger)
I have a feeling that it'll be coming to, but I don't think it'll be with Mango.
This is good news. Now I'd like to see Words With Friends ported over. I love that game on my iPad.
That would be nice, but AlphaJax certainly does the job just fine.
Please tell me that is not the final tile graphic. That's pretty fug...
